    Default Service Advice

The service warranty period for my 206CC has now expired, however it is shortly due for it's regular 6-monthly service. In the past, i have always had it serviced by a Peugeot dealer. However, now that the warranty period has expired, i am considering taking it elsewhere for its service. The number of klm's on the car is also very low, so i dont really think that a dealer service is really necessary....for the price that they charge.

If anyone knows a decent place for a service in the Parramatta area ..... please let me know .......... OR should i just stick with the Peugeot dealer???

    Thanks

not sure about the Parra' area.

But... PQAuto (Presteige Quality Auto) in Chatswood specialise in Peugeots, and the guys there are very good, very helpful, will give you a breakdown of costs every step of the way...and they know their pugs! (Piere having worked in the past for Peugeot) and Maurice really knows his pugs.

Also many people on this forum like Paul at Gladesville Prestiege. I havn't taken my car there so I can't comment, but he is meant to be excellent.

MR2SLY, this kilometrage figure is a bit out of wack for being out of warranty period and even for needing service. How many kilometres has you're car travelled since it's last service? Many near perfectionists would advise you to do nothing but drive your car more often.

The car is now 3.5 years old and catching public transport to work each day has limited the number of klm's on the car. It's been 6 months since the previous service was carried out and out of habit, i have always had the car serviced at 6 monthly intervals. Perhaps i am being too cautious and "over servicing" it

    Im with eg de there.....

Just go with the Km's as an indication of when a service is required..

I do my Oil/filter every 5K at home as its easy.... car gets driven enthusiastically and id prefer the fresh lubricant just for peace of mind

Every 10,00 is a free inspection (plus you get the service stamp) so i would get the dealer to do this

at every 20,000 then i would maybe get the dealer to do the service

Although ive been quoted anywhere from $420 - $500 and $370 if i supply the oil from 4 different Pug dealers in Sydney (i thought they were standard prices across the board)

With some of the past experiences of some others on this forum im a little wary about a "Dealer Service" but each to their own

My car is also driven mainly on week ends so at 1.5 years its only seen 18000 just come up.

G'day, I have had my car serviced with Trivett Parramatta (the dealer formally known as A&J) since I have bought it and I have never had a problem. I can personally recommend their services and am always happy with the way my car is looked after while it is there. While I hav'nt yet looked into non-genuine service yet, I do believe in the use of genuine parts and I am quite happy in paying the little extra to have someone with good product knowledge service my car. Also, a dealer will also advise you of other work which may need attention in the future where it might be overlooked at the 'local servo'. I would be sticking with the Peugeot Dealer.

Can i also suggest you take it to Colliers Automotive. They are french car specialist and have great customer service, reputation, great history and actually DO the work. Colliers are in Granville near Parramatta Rd.

'actually DO the work' Please explain. Are you insinuating that the Peugeot Dealer network are not doing their job properly? If so, have you ever brought it to their attention? Maybe next service I will request a technician to go over my car with me and show me everything they have done. I believe my dealer is carrying out the servicing thoroughly. Although, Something to think about. Also, what if diagnosis work has to be carried out? only a dealer will have the correct equipment to do so. I'm sure any of the other businesses mentioned will still refer you back to the dealer if it gets too involved.

i do all my own on mine after a dealer stuff up and rip off on mine and also their stuffing around and not knowing how to fix another family members car

the only times any car of mine has gone to a dealer i when i haven't had time to do it myself

some people need to rely on dealers though so good ones are worth hanging onto

just a word though no names are to be mentioned of dealers or repairers you have had bad dealings with please

As we are not allowed to specifically negate a dealerships service, perhaps you should have a search around on the forum to see what people experiences have been with the western sydney peugeot dealership.

Well, I guess you could all bag dealers till you are blue in the face but the fact of the matter is they have got you by the short and curley's. Sooner or later you are going to have to go back there, so it is no wonder they don't do you any favours if they only see you when you have warranty work or when YOU 'think' there is 'something wrong' with your car. You should be friendly with your service staff and they will in turn help you out, just speaking from experience fella's!

So unless I visit them on regular occasions to say helloe or sux a** I wont get any "favours" such as my service being completed without a dent being put in the door or a rear windscreen not being replaced when it is faulty and then having to wait 4 months for a replacement cause they forgot to order it in twice. Did I mention the time they left the coolant container lid off/wont change the water pump even though two independant mechanics have said it IS faulty.... Save me the favours...gee and here I was thinking it was there job

I have taken my car to two pug dealers and received the same dissapointing service which I was charged approx $400 & $700 for.

Go to a private mechanic and get the service done for $160. Cut them short and curleys. I prefer brazilian

One can only go on one's own experiences. I'm glad you are happy with that dealer, but over many years and numerous cars, where they were given plenty of time to "get to know me," they never quite succeeded in delivering a satisfying servicing experience with any sort of consistency - and this is just with my last car and eight regular 10k servicing visits, plus numerous other visits to deliver on promises made by the sales people, and not backed up by their own servicing department.

If that isn't enough time to develop a working relationship, then how long are we talking? To put it bluntly, after a total of two visits with a new dealer that I have to travel across Sydney to get to (as opposed to not more than 5 mins from where I live...), the difference is chalk and cheese. They barely know me but have bent over backwards to help me already. They don't even have the mythical "we sold you the car so we will look after you" attitude, because they didn't sell me the car.

Thank goodness no names have been mentioned
    Regards,

    Simon

I take my 306 to the shop I bought it from in Spencer st (Spencer St Automobiles)
See Tony or Sam, they are both very knowledgeable about Pugs because Tony once owned a dealership in Melbourne. Expect to pay about $160 for a 10,000 km service.
