    Default Fuel Economy - 405 Mi16

Well I finally got my November '92 Mi16 on the road after a complete overhaul of the cooling system after I purchased the vehicle at Easter time.

    It runs beautifuly.

One of the first things I had to do was drive from Perth to Geraldton and back (about 900Ks).
I calculated that I got 35 Miles per Gallon (8.06 litres per 100 Ks).

The next tankful was used for city running which I calculated at 31 Miles Per Gallon (9.10 Litres per 100 Ks)

Is this what everyone else is getting?

I expected a bit more as I used to get 36Mpg in the country in my 505 estate which is heavier, bigger, carby, older etc.

    Thanks in advance

Since i got Mi16 few months ago, my average distance travelled for each full tank is about 500km, for about 75% city traffic, ocasionally go wild with the accelerator, but I only fill it up once a month 5 minute drive from home to work well, the furthest i get from a full tank is about 612km.

My dad putts around in his '89 s1 and does usually less than 7L/100km for mostly outer suburban driving. Probably not a very comparable result, however...

I get about 500kms from 45-50L around the city, but on a trip i can get up to about 750.

I think 9 litres per 100kms is pretty decent around the city...

Don't complain.... Just worked out my fuel economy for the old CX ... Would you believe 21mpg driving to work and back

It's the most torturous work a car can do though. Every start is a cold one, then it's only 5kms to work. In that 5kms there would be 15 intersections Damn that's expensive running when she's drinking optimax.

The old BX (same as the 405) always return high 30's doing the driving you describe, and low 40's when cruising the highways.

It should get 35mpg at a steady 120, and 43mpg at 90, with 95/96 octane fuel.

i would pull into the servo at the border with the fuel light on
