sparco stut brace order. 205 gti

im ordering a sparco upper strut brace for my 205 gti in 2 weeks or so.
sparco send orders to italy at the end of the month.
they need 50 percent deposit with remainder to be paid on delivery.[$125]
they deliver to your door.
it takes a while though[5 weeks] to fill order as it sent by boat to keep costs down.
they are alloy not steel.
can take 6 weeks if they have to be made .if they have no stock.
they cost 250 aussie inclusive.
im making an order in 2 weeks[monday fortnight.]
if you want to order we may get cheaper rates for multiple order.

yes they do make one for the 405 mi 16
its aliitle bit more as its physically bigger.
its 250-270 aussie dollars.
now sparco just rang and said we can have the 205 gti ones for 225 aussie if we buy 4.
so get the orders in-BAZZ

Have you considered omp bars? You can get them in the country on air freight cheaper than that

sparco dont make a lower strut brace for the 205.
omp do but they are steel not alloy.-BAZZ

the last omp i fitted needed to be bent to get the bonnet to close.a customer had the same problem with his also.omp do a lower .

yes i have considered omp.
there are a few different companies making them now.
i emailed about 5 different websites and got 2 answers of the mon syblic variety.
i asked a few questions and none were answered.
i got very quick response from sparco so ill go with them
they have made them for the 205 from the get-go[1985]and have a good reputation .
omp are steel not alloy.
the sparco ones are very well made and look better than the omp[for all the tosses like me who like assetics as well as functionality].
they are brushed aluminium with black steel ends.
the omp are red steel and dont look as good.[in my opinion]

No I havent, But my frienda gti6 has one, and it does a very good job, and nil flex. fitted perfectly.

When I was going to order one for my old swift, it was $70 to me, including air freight costs. cheap as chips!!

i have also heard of this ,thanks for the reminder.i new there was a reason to get the sparco.i just couldnt remeber why.
omp make one for the 205 for the non standard airfilter set up as well as the standard .
the non standard is a straight bar and will get fowled by standard air filter setup.

really $70?????,sure it wasnt £70 as that seems right.

if you can get one go for it but as charles said ,he had to bend the ones he has put in.
cheap or not,id rather the right one first go.
and im sure if it had to be modified it MAY not work as well.

They buy tonnes of omp gear from italy. a full 40ft container every 3 months or so...

I'll hold off and get a whiteline custom one i think.

re conversation just checked handbooks from s1 and s3, and both have same wheelbase dimensions - 1383.

then, do we assume its a one size fits all, for all series of 205gti?

anyone care to shed some light?

the guys at the local autobarn checked the whiteline catalog and there does not seem to be one listed in their catalog .
have you found one by whiteline.?
also, i should limit this to melbourne people as the postage will be a headache.
im presuming they get posted to my place and the relevent people can pick them up from me.
its just easier that way.
sparco is in sydney so you could deal with them if you decide to get a sparco one for some reason.

From memory i think it's the momo and most likely omp strut braces that dont fit a 205GTi.
I think they will fit a 205 with an auto bonnet though.

Baz, Did you see my similar posting? I have also got top and bottom braces coming from Strut Bracer in the UK. Bit a hassle with the deal but will be OK in the end. I, too, am looking forward to the experience when fitted. David.

yes i did, bit i found them too much of a hassle to deal with.
mono syblic answers to multiple questions.
also i want a sparco one as i have heard scare stories of the other brands not fitting properly.
also the sparco is adjustable and a lot of the others are rigid set.
they also look cool.

sparco update-
please state what year your car is if you have anything bar a 205 gti.
as far as sparco know its the same brace for all model 205 gti's.
the 405 mi 16 has a different one for the 2 ltre model.
so remember you have to pay your deposit by august 8th.
you can ring sparco and pay with credit card.
or ill pay your deposit for a $500000 fee.ha ha ha ha
they will be sent to my place in nth balwyn and you can pick up from me.-BAZZ

they are still looking into it for me.
maybe get a tape measure and see if there is any difference in measurment from the top of the strut tower.
measure from the nut ontop of the shocker to the other shocker nut.
do the same on the other 205 and see if there is any diference,
they are adjustable anyway so a little difference wont hurt.
personally i cant wait.-BAZZ
