306 - clicking from lefthand side of dash

Morning all,
Last week a clicking noise began on turning the key to first position. Noise coming from inside the left hand side of the dash in my 96 306XSI. It was going away after about 15 secs but this morning it came back for about 3 secs while driving when I turned off the recirculating air button

Any ideas?

Also got the indicator stalk issue but understand that one.

If they are anything like the Cits of that era, they have a small fan under the dash that is constantly operating. It's there to circulate a sample of air over the sensors of the climate control and to me this sounds like a similar Cit problem where the fan blade either taps on something or the fan gets noisy with age.
