    Default 205 Prices going up???

I have been a long time observer of this forum. I own an immac. S3 GTI and have been watching a few come up for sale on the forum.

One grabbed my attention the other day, A 205 GTI Classic for sale in brisbane. The owner wants $13990 and I'm pretty sure that same car was advertised last year on this forum for less (#14/30).

Am I to believe that these cars will appreciate in value?

    Mate I doubt it.
Guys like us desire them, but the wider market couldn't give a stuff and would rather own a Coomoodoor.

You're right, I advertised that car on here for a friend at $13k. Ended up having to sell for less though. I doubt they'll get $14k

like we all say guys, cars like the 205gti have an acute market, and therefore the main selling variable is what the customer is willing to pay.

when i was looking for another 205gti earlier this year (later model s3 or even classic) i wouldve paid that amount_or thereabouts_ back then.

even now, i personally think its a fair asking price.

cars are worth what people can find them for you can find a series 1 in good conditon for $3000, whilst a series 3 might cost you over $8000 in the end it comes down to what buyers can find a car for, and what they're willing to pay for it based on that. Recently however i've been noticing 205's being listed at higher prices, wether they're still for sale or not is another question however.

you can source a good s1 for 3 grand? gees, ive never seen a good s1 at that price, ever.... at that rpice its probably a real shitter, or one that needs a bit more TLC, with the possible exception of asanka's which went for under 2 grand, but then he had to get new driveshafts recently. the only good s1s ive seen, have sold for upwards of 8-9 grand.

even today, anyone would be optimistic to find even a crap s3 at 8 grand. ive seen one, maybe two go at or near that price.

heres a link to a good thread posted some time back re 205 gti prices. look for a good post err posted by maurice (mybok) at the end of the thread.
