New 206 build record

From this morning's Herald-Sun Cars Guide:

"The Peugeot 206 has hit the five million mark in less than seven years. Built in Mulhouse, France, the 206 is set to beat Peugeot's production record, currently held by the 205, of which 5,278,000 were built. The five millionth 206, a 206CC, is destined for Germany."

Given that this is pretty much all that they've said about Peugeot in more than a month of publication, it would almost be a case of casting pearls before swine to bother pointing out to them that it's only LHD 206s that are built at Mulhouse, and RHD models at Ryton in the UK ...

Apparently, in order to stave off more sackings at the Ryton plant, all 206s are being assembled there, both L/H and R/H drive. The 206 CC is supposedly the only model now being built in Mulhouse.

Which begs the question, what other "French" cars are currently not made in France (there is a few Peugeots made in Iran).
