    Default wanted: 405 mi16

    Hey people,
I recently smashed up my lovely 505 GTI, and am in need of some new wheels. Have been reading up on the 405 mi16 and it looks like its worth a buy. So if anyone knows of one for sale in Adelaide or in Melbourne. Can only afford up to about $5000. but if anyone has a better idea for a car, let me know.
    Cheers, Scott

Find another 505 GTi. You'll want yours back after about a month with the Mi16.
What year was yours? Auto or manual? Have you still got the remains? Want to sell it to me?

If you want something really special and really fun, go no further than here:

    205 GTI/Mi16 for sale

The car is owned by a long time member on this board and the reality that you and I have living in SA and Qld respectively is that to get a choice of vehicles usually means travelling intrstate.
Another alternative is to check out the search function on the board as I can remember a couple being advertised in the past few weeks.
An ex Aussiefrogs car has the advantage of being a car that others will know the history on.
You can try the Trading Post but they give the impression that they aren't travelling too well lately from what we've seen.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

    thanks for the replies guys,
I don't think that a 205 GTI would work for me because i transport a lot of people on the weekends. And my 505 GTI was a series one (only just by a couple of months), manual. When i smashed it up it was all in good condition but we've taken out a lot of the interior to put into a 1983 505 STI. However have basically not touched under the bonnet. Hey i'll sell it to ya if ya want it but its in pretty bad shape. Plus why would I want to back to a 505, is the 405 a bit of a dissapointment?
    Cheers, Scott

totally agree, the Mi16 has been still one of the best cars i have driven, they had so much right with that car.

    Definitely.

I would find it really hard to go back to the old RWD generation of Peugeots now after spending time with the 405.

Not that there was anything inherantly wrong with the RWD generation, it's just the modern FWD Peugeots handle so sharply, it's insane what you can do with these things. Even things like ride quality are in my opinion on par, alright you probably can't go do the same crazy things on rough roads.

Just looking at things in terms of pure performance, the Mi16 is clearly superior. The Mi16 is also close to ten years more advanced in terms of development.

So it would be worth spending a bit extra and getting a good quality series 2?
Cause I've seen some at the same price as some of the early 406 models. that is at like $12,000. how much should be spent on a 405 mi16 if you want to keep it for a few years?
