Peugeot's delightful 206 GTi, with a willing 102kW, 2.0-litre four-cylinder and manual transmission, is highly attractive for this money. A 2000 example with 76,000km is about $19,700. The rare 306 GTi6, with a 100kW, 2.0-litre, is also in this territory. A 1997 example with 111,000km costs about $18,700. Manual transmission was all that was available and it was one of the first six-speed manuals on the market. Buy used Peugeots with caution, bad ones can be minefields.
Doh .. some facts wrong and a backhander for Peugeot. .. at least they got a mention.

"Buy used Peugeots with caution" eh?..."Bad ones can be minefields"...hmmm.

Is he implying the whole range as he's just written about 2 models?

Someone at Peugeot must have done the dirty on him at one stage.

I just saw a red GTi6 the other day. Had just sold, and was soon to be shipped to Melbourne. I think it was a 1999 model with just over 60,000kms. Price... $19,990!!!

I used to go to school with the author of this article.

    Enough said!
Anyway - any used car could be a minefield.
I know a chap who had a BMW 528i and he used to stick black tape over the red fault/service light on the dashboard so he wouldn't have to have it checked for faults every month or so and fork out a fortune in service costs.

I know Rod too. Funny guy

Why a Peugeot requires extra care over other brands, I'm not too sure, though!

A whole lot of the cars he mentions aren't even sporty.

And doesn't the Gti6 have 124kw of power...

    Default Year after year

I seem to remember reading the same line in used car magazines year after year never any facts just a popular belief to fill some space in the publications.
