205 GTI "STOP Light & Oil Pressure Drop" when Cornering

    Hi all,

Tonight... I noticed that when turning a ahrd right, my stop light comes on and the oil pressure guage drops significantly.

Once point straight again, or easing out of the corner, everything turns to normal.

I've checked the oil, and from what I can tell.. everything is ok (i've an after market oil dip stick)...

Thoughts? Anyone have a spare genuine oil dip stick?
    Thanks
    Justin

low on oil, check the levels again with a pug dipstick.

I never needed to bother checking the oil in the mi16, it told me itself the same way. wink

Did you know the oil temp guage in an Mi16 displays the oil level, when you first turn the ignition on?

Sounds great, enjoy the day. Please, just keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge and light. You will need to fit a sump baffle system if you are cornering hard and have good tyre grip.
Picked this off another thread might be something you need to consider question

    Cheers

Dont ever trust this feature tough, most service centers tell me its not the most reliable feature. used to trust it on my S16, until like youself and adrian and other servic fellows explaind just how much cornering affects sump oil levels.-cheers chris.

ps, as for the thread q? how about at the next service empty out the oil into a measuring jug and see just how much was in there?
    ... ptui!

around when i first got my 205 it used to do that when cornering hard and eventually degenerated to hard braking it was oil level alright.

EDIT: Sorry didn't read ur post properley. You already checked it. You could try adding a litre and seeing if it does it to the same degree. Unless anyone here can say that is a really bad idea. It wouldn't do it at all if the thing was right up to level on the dipstick.

Then... if someone with a genuine dip stick measure the distance from the full mark to the top of the stick (where it is seated).. THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC!!!!

I could then measure mine and mark the 'full' line.. and go from there??

    Thanks

    Hi all,

    Justin
    Justin,

Oil is cheap. Change it but leave filter in place. Fill with exactly the handbook quantity and mark the dipstick. Go for hard drive. See what happens. If OK, you have confirmed everything. If not OK, add 0.5 L and try again. If OK remark dipstick. If not OK? Well, maybe it's not oil level but something to do with your extreme cornering or oil pump or bearings???

    Just thoughts.

    Good luck.
