Well your engine has been around in various configurations for many decades. It is considered to be a very strong engine and they tend to rev quite well. I've been told they don't get valve bounce until 7500rpm in stock form but there really is no need to rev them beyond 5500rpm as above that is is all noise and no go.

    Actual specs are:

    Cylinders: Four, in-line
    Valves: overhead (pushrod)
Carburettor: Solex 32-35 TMIMA (two barrel)
    Compression ratio: 8.8:1
    Bore x Stroke: 88 x 81 mm
    Capacity: 1.971 litres
    Power: 70.5kw @ 5200rpm
    Torque: 160.8nm @ 3000rpm

When new: In terms of performance you're looking at 0-100 in about 13 seconds for the 5spd manual. They have a top speed of 160km/h. They covered the 400m sprint in a leisurly 18.9 seconds. Fuel consumption was about 25mpg.

Mine's a manual and I find the 'sweet spot' to keep the engine at is 2500-4500rpm. Thankfully when cruising at 100km/h the engine is reving just over 3000rpm so you're at peak torque.

One of the best bits about these cars was the suspension, providing it is still in good condition.
