Default 306 win against against a WRX...

....ha ha ha, albeit on Sega Rally at Intencity. Of course I picked the 306 Maxi to race against my mate who jumped onto the WRX as soon as it came up on the screen. You'll all be pleased to hear that I kicked his arse, which surprised me considering:
    a) this guy is a shit hot driver
    b) I haven't played Sega Rally in about 10 years.

hey steve, thats the sega rally at the pinnies yeah?

hey man, even when the 306 maxi kit car was in its prime, it was kickn 4wd butt on tarmac style rally stages, anyhow.

it even won the ever intensely battled french rally championships for a few years!

they're not that hard to beat on the road either. especially one with a big dump pipe and bov. i've easily beaten WRXs off the mark in the GTi6. Problem is you have to be pretty brutal with it to get it off the mark very quickly, otherwise they can be easy to bog off the mark. However. if the WRX drivers wants to beat you he probably can, disregarding mechanical sympathy.

In any case, I don't do that kind of thing anymore anyway. Plus the ST is a biatch to launch :p

    Well here's real life story.

Last night I was coming back from Newcastle. At the Swansea roundabout I met up with an WRX STi. Now naturally he was quicker up the hill, but once we got into Swansea curves proper, the real contest began. I'm happy to say I passed him on the OUTSIDE in the Mi16x4, at a speed that I couldn't print here. He gave up after that.

Yeah, I didn't know that they had updated it with new cars. The only cars they had when I last played it was the Celica and the Lancia (I think).

Did the 306 Maxi have a turbo on it??

The maxis were 2litre NA, the big advantage they had over 4wd's was weight- the gp A 4wd's had to be 1280kg, and most WRC's are over, and the F2 cars had to be over something like 980 kg's. Big difference when traction isn't so important eg tarmac, and the turbos have a restrictor whereas the NA cars made useful power to 9 grand. With a restrictor there's not a lot over 6.
