    Icon5 306 gearbox/synchros

im at a loss where i can get my hands on some synchro's (especially 2nd gear ones) for my 306... my gfs leaving paris for good in 3days.. should i try and get her to go to peugeot over there and buy them...

or is it possible to buy them here?? and on the odd chance... would anyone know ruffly or estimate how much each synchro would cost??

as im thinking of replacing my 2nd gear synchro.. because when i launch off the line in first... i have to crunch it into 2nd... (unless i double de-clutch, which is what ive been doing.. however, means poor fuel consumption.)

and in relation to changing the synchros... do i have to change them all at the same time? or can i change each one at intermittent intervals?

*p.s. would like to hear advice from experience people and wise knowledgable folks... if you DONT know.. then DONT reply..
    cheers,

dont know much about gear boxes but I'm gonna say this

Dont buy parts overseas unless they're cheaper so do your research. Through relatives in Europe I got a quote for a pair of original 306 S16 foglights and compared that to the price in Australia and it was about the same. I then managed to get a pair from a wrecker and paid about 15% of the RRP.

So just cause it's France (the home of Peugeot) doesnt mean it's gonna always be cheaper there...

dont know much about gearboxes but i know this, you'd have rocks in your head not to change them all at once, why make extra work for yourself buy pulling it all apart 5 times???

    *sorry to be rude bro...

the peugeot mechanic at the peugeot dealership explained that i should fix the 2nd one, then worry about the rest as each one wears out...then replace one by one...
i thought it didnt sound coherent.. thats why i posted it up.. to get feedback.. but thanks nonetheless!

aiight.. ive got quotes on gearbox.. a low mileage xsi gearbox for $770, or a gearbox thats done 120,000kms for $550. (but the first one is questionable..as i wasnt told the true kms)..

now.. are these prices good/bad.. cheap/expensive.. i have no idea in this area.. so would appreciate some help.. (i self-service my pug n my friends ones, but i dun fix them..cause i aint mechanic lol.)

    Hi

If the gearbox has done a lot of work & is worn, Why not try for a service exchange unit with a warranty?

A new gear box from Peugeot for my 405 is over 1000 in the U.K. Avoid the main dealers & find a gearbox specialist who can advise you more.
