    how much

ouch, just had a 70,000 service done to a 406sv. I was told that it's not a major service, an hour later the phone rings it's the mechanic. Brakes pads all round and front discs need replacing
(discs were below min and tops had lipped)and $900-00 later i drove it away.
My question is, which non genuine discs and pads do you reccommend for my car and are there better replacements parts out there that dont cost an arm and a leg.

I chose EBC front rotors and EBC pads all round for exactly the same reason.

They cost me $900 all up for a 306. Not sure how that related to a 406.

I bought front discs and pads for my 405 a couple of years ago from Import Advantage in Brisbane for $70 ea disc and $45 for pads. If you are a Pug club member they give you trade price. I still buy a lot of things from Ken at Caravelle in Melbourne. The discs were Brembo.

Overseas (UK) the rotors would cost about $60 a pop. Of course that's over there, apparently we get the gold plated series out here.
As an alternative, there is a company in Australia producing a quality product at what is normally a competitive price (cheaper than wreckers price which of course is based on a % of local "gold plated" new price) I had cause to use some on a CX years ago just after they opened up & was pleasantly surprised at both the price & quality.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!
