Yes, 605. The same engine was in the Renault Laguna, and Citroen XM, both FWD.
Don't forget the Renault 30 which had the original odd fire 2664 engine and was front wheel drive, also one of the Lancias.

Ive only ever seen 2 x 605s in the scrapyards in the last 10 years, They are very rare even here in the U.K.

Theres plenty of 406s & Xantias though, Seen a couple of HDIs today while having a hunt around in the pile.

mm indeed.. he did say there was only 10 he knew about in the country.. hence why i thought might interest one of you lot..

Couldnt work out where the damage was either, nothing wrong with the engine at all, not a mark, no damage in the bum, nor sides, and the fornt... or what was left after he cut the engine out wasnt in any realy drama either.. must ask him how it got there??

There about 5 Mi16's out the font to if anyone is looking for something wierd and wonderfull..

Well there you go. I thought the PRV engine was a 2.7 and the front wheel drive 12V V6 circa 605/early XM was a 3.0l?

The 12V V6 in the XM I know doesn't look anything like a 2.7l PRV

later model 605's got the 3.0l 24v which was the same engine that also went into the 406, the last of the 605's however got a diffrent engine again, which is the same engine that is in the current 607. The early ones however are a PRV variant, and AFAIK we only got the PRV engined 605 in australia

all 605's in this country got the ZPJ1K engine

    it's a 2963cc engine

the ZPJ4 is the 24 valve version we didn't get

the 605 engine is 93 over 73 bore and stroke

    the 604 engine is 88 over 73

and the 2849 is 91 over 73 which is volvo, and overseas the 505 and later 604's from 83 onwards which is the ZN3J engine

mind you the 605 engine isn't a big power producing engine for the car it's in with only 127kw but it does have around 250Nm of torque

    Orestes,

I thought we were talking about 12V V6s? We weren't talking about 406s or 607s, or 24V engines.

Oz spec 605s were all 12V ones (as discussed recently on another thread), excluding the possibility of any privately-imported ones.

I still think the 3.0l 12V V6 in the 605/XM looks totally different to a PRV motor (though I do remember a very oddly-shaped electrical connector buried under the LHM tank in the XM, clearly marked "Volvo"), so I guess I am wrong here.

it wasn't untill around 98/99 that the 605 got the ES9J4 which is the same engine as the 406

up till then though they were a 90 deg V6 as in the ZPJ range

as far as i know the XM had the same as the 605 up till around the same time, maybe a bit later before changing over to the 60 deg version in the ES9J series

so in all accounts the XM and the 605 had the same 90deg V6

the 406/607 engine has a different capacity anyway

    605/XM = 2963

    406/607/late XM/late 605 = 2946
