    Default Hello...

    Hello people

Hope you don't mind a LIMEY infiltrating your forums

Your forum is pretty cool. I've got a 306 Rallye (the proper one ) so hope to chat/learn things/help out whenever I can!

    Cheers

Hi there... you've just learned, I guess, that we're awake through a different set of hours to you poms, so sometimes you might have to wait for a response.

But, no doubt, you'll come to enjoy yourself here... welcome...

Welcome Rallyestair - we don't call you Limeys - you'll have to use that one when Yankeefrogs.com starts up...

We didn't get the 306 Rallye here, nor the 106, unfortunately. I hankered after a 106 when it was tested in CAR mag...

    Cheers

Welcome rallyestair! Nice photos! The UK 306 rallyes must go pretty hard, being less weight than the gti6! Nice photos by the way!

The 306 rallye's in Oz were actually 4 door stock 2 lt motor (not the gti6 engine) with a few extra comforts.
    Take the long way home....

we don't call you guys LIMEY's but you are a bloody pomie bastard there are a few UK based members on the baord, who might pop out and say hello...

we never got the 106 in oz which is disapointing

as for the 306 Rallye, it was a run out model in australia, and basically was an N5 XT with a sticker, and luxury pack.

if i ever decide to go to the UK for a year i'll bring myself back a proper 306 Rallye or 106 Rallye... great cars the 106, it's a shame we never got them

Yeah so I hear. Strange decision that one, as the Rallye brand has always meant a stripped out racing-style version of a car in the UK & in France

I have driven both, quarter miled against the GTi-6 and been on trackdays with them both! At the end of the day the weight difference of 50 odd KG doesn't really make much difference at all! It's all down to the driver. Rallye drivers claim that theirs feel more alive than the GTi-6 but personally I don't think there's much in it at all.

Generally speaking, GTi-6 owners look upon the Rallye as a cut-price '6. Rallye owners look upon them as a purer and more focused version of a GTi-6

I've got some photos of 'my' car in York from when I was last over there. Too bad the car was a 50 quid '80's-something Nissan Cherry 1.0 with a dodgy MOT... Still it did the job, and got about 152 mpg to boot...

Lots of confusion about how many were sold...all I can tell you is that the Rallye was much rarer than the '6 as it was only on sale for about a year I believe. We have 1440 GTi-6 members and 220 Rallye members signed up on the owners club.

I wrote an article on one of our 306 club trackdays which got published in there a couple of months ago. Will dig it out...

You can purchase said mag in a few good newsagents down here. I have seen it in Technical Bookshop, Newsagent in Chadstone and even the one in Doncaster!! Mind you, the issue is a few months old now and the last one I saw was about the turbo Clio 182.

There was some weird French one I found at McGills in the city as well. All in French and was very very bling.

Some of those French guys do some crazy stuff to Pugs. Mind you from memory there was a tasty looking 406 coupe that was fully beefed up.

Some members of the GTi-6 & Rallye owners club are going over to France in summer to meet up with a load of 306 fans from the 306 Inside club! Am looking forward to it!
