    New engine mounts??

A small problem seems to have arisen recently. My 306 S16 engine is not as smooth as it has been. Especially between 2000 and 5000rpm. There is a definite shudder in the drivetrain when under load. I originally thought it was my gear linkages as 4th rattls and knocks at 3000rpm quite bad. But it now seems like there is this shaking going on in more than 1 gear. Engine mounts, fuel delivery?

    Phasis,

Around 3500rpm (110kmh in 5th, fine in other gears I think!?!), do the vibrations make it impossible to use the rear vision mirror on the S16??? The Mi16 is really bad for that plus it has got worse since that good "HOON SESSION" on the Sydney cruise last Sunday. Am thinking it could be engine mounts and will enquire with Pug dealer on my next RDO's. Those XU10J4's! D'oh!

Check engine mounts haven't come loose. If the problem is more proportonal to engine revs it may pay to disconnect the battery to reset the EFI computer, once the idle smooths out take the car for a good thrash. evil

Im am getting it checked out tomorrow. New engine mounts will be about $100 for the top and $50 for each lower + labor. I really dont think it is the engine missing or running rough becasue the more revs the smoother it gets. I am assuming as the revs increase the engine wont get a chance to get into a sort of harmonic vibration in the mounts.
