I recall the 206 GTi in Europe (except the UK) is labeled the 206 S16.

The funny thing is the 206 XSI in the UK was the 206 1.6 16V 3 door hatch

Don't laugh though, because the 2.0 isn't much faster.

Just drive one anyway - have you tried the 1.6 16V car? I haven't tried the 1.6 8V, but the 1.6 16V moves quite nicely in the manual. All my other pet 206 hates apply though wink

The engine needs revs though to give its best - even if 90% of torque is allegedly from 2000rpm. On the popular 0-100km/h measure, you're looking at low 9s.

Or, just save those $$$s and get a 2.0 Then you'll get a proper improvement in the driving experience beyond power. Aside from the power, what do you get with the XRS over your car, a few aesthetic additions and the loss of two doors? Plus the risk of getting multiplexitis

my car is getting old, I mean I am upgrading early next year. I have driven both the 16v and the 8v 1.6ltr and the 206GTi too wink
I much prefer the GTi, but don't think I will be able to aford one next year... ALthough will see...
I was going to go for something new, but I have fallen in love with the 206 and if I can't afford a 206GTi next year, I will just get the XRS. You are right... it's purely cosmetic stuff, just a nice interior, silver finishes, gti gear nob, XRS decals, etc... But the 16v 1.6 engine is very good, the XRS is the next best thing down from a GTi

It's good, but smack me in the head for saying this, I’d rather have a 1.6ltr Clio Privilege instead mallet

    But the GTi-180 beckons ...

The GTi180 is what I am holding out for, If I make another sacrifice (That I am not sure yet if I do) then I will skip the XRS and the GTi, because I will be able to afford a GTi180

Yeah Derek, that Pink "XRS" decal is sooooooo cheap and ugly. That would be the only thing I would remove wink hehehe.

Gotta be carefull with the hairdryer though, you can't have it to too hot, I once hurt the duco of my dad's car removing racing numbers and sponsors from the door roll_lau
