    Default Wrc 307

I was watching the WRC show on 10 Sunday arvo, and heard the commentator talking about the Peugeot 307 WRC car. Comments included "Fat" "Slow" "Wide" etc. I noticed that the Citron with its smaller car was killing them both on top. Also in 10th spot a private 206. My question is why do Peugeot run the 307 over the 206, when it seems that the 206 is a better car for the WRC?

I understand it was done for marketing reasons as the 307 (or maybe specifically the 307 CC) was just out then.

I believe that the 206 WRC had reached the peak of it's development cycle. The 307 was a better bet for the longer term development.

I believe that marketing may have had some influence about the choice of the 307cc over say the 307.

With some rule changes for this year the 307 has become a little better as they are now allowed to increase the track of the cars which should improve the stability of the 307 over last year.

    Smaller - ahahahahah hardly

    Peugeot 307 WRC : 1230kg : 4.344 * 1.770
    Citroen XsaraWRC : 1230kg : 4.196 * 1.770

I suppose if the Xsara's nose didnt stick out so damn far it would be even shorter.

    Amen to that!

It's funny that Group B was banned because it was deemed too Dangerous. However the WRC cars are faster than the Group B cars now. I think the problem was the proximity of the spectators to the roads.

Have you seen the footage of the Lancia 037 cresting the hill in Portugal to see the roads covered with people.

They would cancel stages like that today!

They did cancel stages like that, and now we don't have a portugese rally!

Some crazy stuff happened there, like carlos sainz coming round a hairpin and hitting a parked car (a spectator thought it'd be easier to park close to the hairpin... on the stage!).

They also had issues with the "sea of people" every now and then, all too common in the group b days.
