    Draining engine coolant

    Hello all,
    Where is the plug to drain the engine coolant from the cylinder block? The one on the radiator is easy enough to find but i can't find the engine plug.

    Thanks

    Pugsly,

    I'm sure there are members on this board that can help you, the latest pug I've owned was a 505 so I'm of no use. Now if it was a 203 it would have been so easy, just a sprung lever on the side of the block

    Cheers

    Same spring approach on the 403 too. The plugs had a nasty habit of corroding away after a time though. Remember seeing a few where you almost had to drill through the accumulated junk in the water jacket at the plug hole to get anything to come out of them!

    Cheers

    From memory the spring-lever retained plug was used up until 1966 in the 404. Maybe only 1965, though... been a long time since I played that game...

    And yes, often you'd get them free and spend the next hour coaxing a trickle through the accumulated rust and junk.

    Hope I am not too late!!!

    As the 306 2.0L is a XU10J4 engine like my Mi16, the plug is at the back of the block, low down near where the driveshaft comes out of the diff.
    It is from memory around a 15mm nut.

    Quote from Haynes Manual;
    "On 2.0L engines, the drain plug is located at the rear left hand end of the cylinder block, next to the rear engine mountings."

    Happy flushing!
