306XT Speedo faulty (1996 model)

Hi Everyone
My father's 1996 306XT's speedo and trip meter have been working erractically over the last two years. It fluctuates from 0km to actual speed for a few days and then will work for months on end the problem comes back. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also the outside temperature guage does this as well.
Does this model have a cable or is electronically controlled?

Pipo i belive it is cable controlled, i too have the same car as yours & experience the same problem as well, and also i happens at the most random of times, its very bizzare.

hey man ma dad owns a 1995 306xr and his tacko is a bit dodgy 2 and u cant really fix it unless u wanna pull the car apart and tightent the wire. just leave it or u can get a cutom tacho(EXPENSIVE)

Around the middle of 1996 was when Peugeot changed the 306 over from a cable driven speedo to an electronic one.
