are there any current/previous/intending owners of auto 306 cabriolets who would like to share their thoughts/expreriences?

what about you others? what are your perceptions of the n5 306 cabriolet automatic?

Reggie, what on earth are you doing online at 12:30am on a Saturday morning?? I think THAT is the more pressing concern here.

Actually,, to be honest, the 306cc is probably one of the best looking convertables going around... except for the new Mini convertable which is the dog's balls.

i do agree i think the 306 cab is stil the best look cab/cc thing going around, if your gay, an attractive model from chadwick modeling agency or a 40 year old going through a mid life crisis.

my missus loves them but we have kids so it can only be a dream

the only issues i can think of would be the roof sealing as per any soft top car

    c'mon

this is a country that loves soft tops but has the wrong climate for them so classing them as a car that only certain people would own and drive is a bit harsh

do you live in melbourne? Have you seen the people who drive these cars, i work in probs the most superficial street in melbourne (grevile st) & all i see is 306 cab drivers fitting my above description, yes this may be a generalisation but there is truth in it.

for the amount of 306 cabs that were sold there must be an awful lot of the people you have described out there that have bought one

i'm not having a go but generalising on just one area is a bit harsh

306 cabs were sold in other places as well around the country

Yes but you would hardly see a guy driving one who wore a t-shirt saying "V8 Utes are Beaut!"

    that's true

but with what has been said above to me it's the same as saying 206's are girls cars

i know Asanka is just having a bit of a joke but this one has been well worn out IMO

Maybe a visit to the next Gay and lesbian car club meeting would open up ones eyes as to what cars are in these clubs remembering they are all people just like everyone else

    rant over now

Opinion coming, i had a 99 N5 full optione for 4 days. With 20K,Kms on the clock it felt ruff... Lots of scuttle and shake (even for a convertible), poor dynamics (even for a convertible), with a full tank the underpowered engine made it feel like a whale. The auto box was slow to react on kickdown, but not much slower than any other late model auto car. The rubers for the roof would sometimes bind against the body as it would flex when driving over what i thought were very small bumps. The dash would creek and rattle too, but thats very 306ish. The rear seats are nearly as bad as a 206CC and the roof is slow in todays evironment. Thirsty engine too, compared to my S16, and I wasnt giving it heaps either. The brakeas are adequate, but if there is a full tank, bags in the (small) trunk, and more than one passenger then they need more than just a bit of braking to hold them up.
For a pug it lacks dynamics and handling, but with the roof on they cruise well for a convertible. The roof down at speed requires you to have the door glass up, and the A/C is cool works well, even with the roof up. The stereo is the biggest POS. Hatch 306's are poor, in a cab its stinking poor.
The WANK im in a convertible factor is hard to beat, and girls can't help but ask for a ride... here the 306 cab is were it makes up for all its foleys, coz when the sun's out and the chicks are cruising........ ahhhhh. - Chris

(ps i should note, ive also driven/thrashed 206cc, MX5 and S2000, and they cab comes last in every respect except the wank factor, much better than the MX5... but in the 4 listed its overall MX5 Turbo 1st, S2000 2nd, CC 3rd and Cab 4th, but not by much)<<< again opinion.

hehehe... yeah, well, just had another long, tiring, and sh..ithouse week at work, and really couldnt be stuffed doin anything except surfing the forum and downloading porn!lolz

    back to the topic.

yeah, ive been looking for another car with my preference being a peugeot.

im looking for a bit of a pose mobile but, i cant justify 30 odd gees on a 406coupe as much as i want one, and i dont want another hatchback, so im playing with the thought of a 306 cab.

saw one advertised for 21990 at bayford euro.... its yellow (only colour i'd consider, really), auto leather, and less than 100000 kays. ive yet to veiw it.

i actually veiwed a 306 cab at suds (mentone) - advertised for 19990 - but it was scratched to the hilt, cloth interior and had what looked like tar on its bonnet.

i spoke with collin starks (of alpine affair fame) and says pretty much what most of you have said - buffeting is chronic, and its structural rigidity is less than satisfying.

for me, its pose factor, for the money, is high.

i am not gay (not that there is anything wrong with it), i am not forty and going through a mid life, but i am an attractive model from the chadwick modelling agency!lolz

    thank you for your replies.
