Default How bigs the fuel tank on a 405 SRDT?

    Hi everyone,

The title sez it all....i cant find the capacity on the Haynes manual and the 405 booklet sez "approx. 70 liters" which i find hard to believe as i filled up from half way between 1/4 and empty to full with approx. 44 liters of diesel...

    they are 70L

to fill a diesel properly you need it to go in as slow as possible

i taught my old man this trick and since then he always gets a full tank but what you do is set the trigger on the pump at a slow rate and while it is filling the tank walk around the car and clean the front and rear screens and empty rubbish out of the car

this way it doesn't seem to take as long as you are bieng kept busy elsewhere

when it cuts out you know it's full

diesel when poured in fast gets what i call the 'coke' effect in that it gets all frothed up

with your guage reading between 1/4 and empty and only taking 44L tells me that you had a good 'head' on the fuel and the tank didn't fill up

Yep. I saw on the pumps in the UK 'low froth' diesel...

    Pugrambo's got that one right!

What sort of ecomomy do people get?

One of my better consumption rates was just over 5.5L/100km across the Nullabor - clicked the cruise control on at 125k's with aircon running.

Best distance on a 67L (just short of full tank): 1450 km (4.6L/100km).

Around town is more like high-six, low-seven L/100km (just over 1000 km per tank)

    Thanx guys

Just another quick related question, are fuel gauges on SRDT's always as un-settled as mine (compared to my previous cars) ? It's always +- quarter of a tank depending on de/ac celeration or level...

Mine does this too seems to vary from 1/4 tank to fuel light on depending on the angle of the dangle
