Does anyone know the average time frame for them to need replacement, recommended NSW mechanic to do the job, and approx cost? My pug has done 65000Klms.

    Thanks guys

    Not sure Dave,

Although I'm pretty sure, that it is free play in the suspension control arms that causes the knocking.

I can only suggest you try asking on the Yahoo 206 GTi list as well?
    Regards,

    Simon

    Default Thanks

    Cheers for the assist

Jester - I am a bit of a non tech mate - "clunking" is about as tech as i get with descriptions. i appreciate your answer though.
One of the sydney service centres (No Names) said i might need my ball joints replaced - firstly, I have no idea what they are, and secondly they qouted me "At least $1000"

They obviously see through my lack of tech knowledge!!

Appeciate the hints guys - re: Simon and the free play in the suspension control arms that causes the knocking, is there anyway I can have a look and get it sorted - do i need a mech, or can it be done simply by me?- unfortunately pretty low on cash at the moment.

Thanks all and apologies for the lack of tech talk

    Dave

    Sorry Dave,

I figured you must have been onto something already. I was referring to this snippet from the PeugeotLogic website:

    knock from front suspension

It sort of describes the symptoms fairly clearly, and what to look for, of a reasonably "common" 206 problem which sounded similar to yours.

The quote seems a little excessive for such a job - I wonder what the parts cost themselves?

Whereabouts in Sydney do you live? I'm sure there's a pug friendly place near you that can at least look at the car, without costing that sort of money.
    Regards,

    Simon
