    Hi James,

What colour is the brownish 504? Is it "Deep Flamingo"? I have one and it appear to be same colour? But have lost the Paint Code from the engine bay?

    What 'rambo said...

It took me much longer to download the smallest of those than it took to alter all three of them to suit.

Suggest you download Irfanview and use it frequently.

I don't know if you said it was an LTI or not, but it seems there are no window switches where they should be on the console...

    Hi guys,

Sorry About the picture size guys. There size has been changed now. There are no power windows, well not anymore. but one of the switches is still there. Does nothing though. It does have the lti badge on the back and the sun roof which i thought only came on lti's. The aircon in the car has been changed to the new type in 1998. The control for it is just out of view because of the steering wheel position, but it is to the right of the steering wheel below the vent. Not sure what the colour is but ill check and get back to you Peter.

    Cheers,
    James.

I have owned two injected cars that weren't LTIs and had sunroofs... and I know where there's yet another.

Two manuals, one automatic. But if yours had the electric windows, then it would be an LTI.

Now... you download Irfanview for future use, and for the moment, save the pics as I've reduced them and put them up on your webspace in place of mine... okay?

it needs more than electric windows and sunroof to be an LTI

    LTI's had

    power front windows
    sunroof
    metallic paint
    tinted windows
    factory air conditioning
    auto

there are plenty of TI's that had either a sunroof or power windows or both of these

there are also plenty that had A/C in them as well

but to get all the options wasn't so common and that is what makes the car an LTI

the last TI my old man owned had power windows and A/C

another one he owned had a sunroof and A/C

we also wrecked another one that was an LTI that had all of the above items i mentioned but this is the way they were marketed as they were the Luxury touring injection but they were only available for about 12months at the end of the TI run in this country so that makes them a fairly rare machine if one turns up

They also had fully imported road wheels instead of local. The first 504s also had these, they look almost the same, but stronger.

A BA10/5 would fit in just as well... as they have the bigger tunnel...

I also cleaned out an LTI that was in a wrecking yard which already had a manual fitted, but it was a 4-speed.

they are the 9 hole wheels from memory instead of the 8 hole wheels the local cars had

Just checked my 1970 504, it has 8 hole wheels, maybe the early ones had local wheels? The outer edge of the rims is different to the later cars, however.

    Hmmm strange,

I think i have said this before but, we have *or did have a mate has it now* a 100% 1 owner 504 LTI in the dark green colour. It's a 1/76 and has sunroof, TI motor, auto, and no electric windows.

The car was sold out of Donald Gorringe motors in Hobart in 1976 and the dealer can confirm that yes the car is a Genuine LTI

i'm not doubting you but all LTI's were marketed with the features i have mentioned above

the one that you speak of may have been a normal TI that was sold as an LTI complete with an LTI badge with some of the options.

even i have been known to put LTI badges on TI's just for something to do but LTI's were the luxury version or optioned up version of the TI

Conversely, the buyer might have stipulated that they wanted the electric windows deleted... maybe they had had a bad experience with them at some time?

Graham... very early 504s had rims with a roll on the outer edge, is that what you mean?

Yes, that's right. I thought it strange that they should sell the LTI with imported rims that were almost exactly the same as the local ones, hardly a bit selling feature but really the only thing you couldn't get on other 504s
Certainly there were plenty of 504s with power windows that weren't LTIs.
The LTI is my least favourite model, I don't like sunroofs or the Borg warner autos or for that matter the plastic highback seats or the quad sealed beam headlights. Strangely, the corduroy high backs were great, very firm and probably the best until the 505 seats.

the first TI my old man bought had a sunroof and was auto and wasn't a TI

so it was basically the same as the tassy car

i like the sunroof in the 504's when they are greased up to work with ease

not a fan of autos full stop

the best seats i feel were the ones that came out in the 78/79 and later 504's and were pretty much a cloth version of the 604 seat

i prefer the quad lights due to the ease to buy them and they produce a great amount of light

We're a different breed then, Graham...

Nothing automotive would give me greater pleasure than getting back my 1060 sunroof-equipped 404.

Of course, it would get the 2-litre and five speed I always promised it, but it was the sunroof that I really loved. Not for the sun, I might add, it just gave it a special 'something' that no other 404 had.

was that the red car at mittagong ?

if so that was a normal auto TI that was coverted to manual

the best time to use a sunroof is on a warm night

nothing like driving along and having that great big hole above your head

the other thing a sunroof is good for it just having them open about 2" during the winter when the heater is on as they draw the warm air through the heater much better
