Icon4 Peugeot 206 Recall

http://www.recalls.gov.au/recalls_motor.cfm?psa_id=11069&rcl_type=recal ls_vehicle

This is a recall for a software update that is required on 206's sold between October 2003 & October 2004. It fixes an issue with the fly-by-wire throttle. So not an issue on all 206's but defiantely a potential issue on the GTi 180!

typing in peugeot into the database brins up appauling results. Peugeot should be embaressed by the high amount of recalls they have. especailly 206 :|

You could - I suppose - look at it from the positive side. Peugeot are willing to get the information out there to people to get fixes done as quickly as possible.

i can remember a time not all that long ago where peugeot were one of the only manufacturers that had never had a recall on one of their cars

and it would have only been around 10 maybe 15 years ago as well so it wasn't all that long ago

Ahhh yes and then PSA started putting computers in their cars! All the manufactuers in the world of software havent developed the perfect bit of code yet!

Just found out my car needs the upgrade. The service guy said a letter should be going out to everyone that needs the recall, but hasn't been sent yet.

Got mine yesterday, Qui.

When I rang my local service mob, they tried to tell me it's not a recall it's a service action and to just get it done next time the car is serviced

Seems to be a lot of trouble and a lot of expense (registered mail to all affected owners) for a response like that, but then again, it's very consistent with my previous experiences with my local servicing mob.
Regards,

Simon

Got my letter today! I'm going to love going into the dealer & shoving that in their face. I went in the day before yesterday & asked whether my car was affected by the recall (they asked which one as there were a lot for 206s at the moment). They looked up on the computer and told me there was no recall for my car!

Hmmmm should have expected this from a service guy who I once saw look at a 505 and ask the owner what model it was.

...and another one, got my letter yesterday and booked in this week...the parts dude was unfamiliar when i booked the car in, but once he called it up on the computer seemed to pick up on it pretty quick - 6 hours, mostly on diagnostic machine - bit of a pain, but thems the breaks...

So far have been pretty impressed by the guys here in perth, particularly as a newbie hehe, but then choices are limited i guess here!

Wouldn't mind hearing if anyone notices anything post-upgrade

The service side of things is fine if you deal with the service manager, the problem is they have FAR too many jobs on and the wait time to book in is getting LONGER and LONGER. Plus I think they are rushing (little things like trim getting replaced properly keep being missed). The only solution ... dealer number 2, but negotiations have stopped again (so it seems) the big blue Peugeot "box" is just one bone of contention.

As for some of the other things ? (let's say I won't be writting a glowing report but things are improving).

Default Service Perth

I phoned yesterday and requested service on Wednesday this week and it was booked in no problems!
So maybe it is picking up there.
In my case I have had no problems getting in but aS Xtc notices little things like getting him (xtc) to clip my plastic steering shroud back together properly after com 2000 replacement.

There is a bit of wait time if you want a loan car (2-3 weeks). Could have got my car booked in earlier if I didn't need the loan car.

Is everyone else's recall letter about a warning light that may come on unnecessarily which may then affect the brakes?
