    the 89 mi16 (14") uses 195/60-14's, and the cars look pretty ordinary with 14's compared to it with 15's.

    FYI;

    15" rims - I am running 195/55 15 MXV3A HX Michelins @ $225 (trade price - usually $260) per corner.

    If in Sydney, Payless Tyres @ Forestville or Chatswood have looked after us for the past 6 years with the family of Pugs.

    $190 each tyre, cant complain

    if you caqn get a set of 15in, do it. The 14's look bloody aweful in comparison

    Ummmm sorry this may be a dumb statement but didnt Nick answer his own question ?

    He asked if 14" rims on an 89 Mi16 were metric, now I am sure everyone knows that 14" is not a metric mesurment ! now I am sure if he were to say 390mm (Peugeot TRX Mag) then he would have known they were metric!

    Sorry just making a stupid point

    The question was actually, does the mi16 run metric TYRES. I've checked it out, and it looks like they dont, from what i heard some 505s run metric tyres and they can be veeeery expensive to replace.

    If the rims are 14" then it's obvious that 14" tyres will fit and so you don't need metric tyres.

    The rims that require metric tyres are 390mm and 340mm rims which don't correspond to any imperial measurements.

    A point of interest is that during the 1960s they made 15" rims and 380mm rims which were almost the same size and thus 380mm tyres fitted 15" rims and vice versa. Many 404s use 380mm rims and are most often fitted with 15" tyres.

    14" tyres always fit 14" rims.

    ..and there's a set of 14" Mi16 wheels at Eagle Wrecking for about $330... 07 3807 3949, two have good tyres, another one has a usable tyre.. the fourth wheel needs a tyre, the fifth wheel needs a good clean up and a tyre.
