    Default My 206 GTi 180

After much thought (in consultation with previous threads from this forum) I decided to purchase a GTi 180. I did so through autosport prestige in arncliffe, I would like to thank Brad, Nick and Dywer from autosport for going out the way to keep me happy both pre and post sale.

Ive only clocked 250km and every thing seems fine (touch wood). I do miss my previous mx5, it was such a great car; but because of my travel commitments for work between hospitals a convertible was no longer ideal. I wish the owner of the mx5 happy motoring. My previous car before the mx5 was an astra SRi which i really regret on buying all i can say is "caveat emptor" to people considering this car.

Here are some pics of my 180

My fuel economy is still improving at 14,000km. And, all of a sudden, the car is so much nicer to drive. It's beginning to remind me of the pleasure I used to get from the 306. Maybe my style has changed and I'm no longer forcing or fighting it.

I agree. I'm up to 10000km, had the first service and the car feels better and better to drive by the week!

If the trip computer is to be believed, more efficient as well. Still need to do a few more tanks to confirm that though.

That looks just like mine, nice colour

    congrats

Even last night I went for a blast around Gembrook in Melb for some fun at around midnight. Miles from my house too. Sometimes you just can't help yourself.

I've done 7500km since the start of sep and the economy and performance have improved too!

Yup - and just like mine - so doubly congrats

And I have to agree, even though I have only done 6300k's in 8 months, (I really must get out more!) - I have noticed improved fuel economy. The drive is also getting better, though I think that is my changing style - it did take me a little while - but now I love the drive
I look forward to the continued improvement

Nice wheels! Congrats on the new purchase! Very sweet

So, tell us why the Astra was so bad. Don't need to hold back on anything!

Now you are talking jester. When my GF is not in the car, I usually turn the A/C and the radio off, just to listen to the car engine, exhaust and tire. Since coming back from overseas I have been turning the ESP off as well and my gosh did that make the driving even more fun. Of course I know that will null my insurance or something but sometimes you gotta risk a bit for the reward.
Nowadays I am taking all the long and windy routes just so I can feel how the car handles around corners.

Blackster, congrats on your new car and don't leave it for too long like me (2 months overseas) or you will develop PWS (Pug Withdrawal Symtoms)

    On delivery

    Snapped air filter mount
    Drive seat adjuster didnt work

    Upto 8000km

    Drive shaft leak
Crunching in 2nd and 3rd gear (really bad when cold)
Groaning from brakes when stopping in reverese (factory fault with all astra SRi's) dampener kits applied did nothing
Numerous ratles, just when you fixed one you would get another

Will never touch a Opel/holden ever again..........
