    Default Key problem

    Hi all

Had a little problem with my key today......
I left the car under the sun for 3 hrs today and when i got bk to my car, i couldnt open the door with the remote control on my keys..........
1st thought was a flat battery on the key, so i just open the door the old fashion way.........
Once i got in the car it was very very very HOT.......
When i got home tried the keys again but failed........
However i tried it out tonight and it worked again...........
    So weird!!!
Anyone got similar problem??? Any1 know the problem???
Key is stuffed or the battery is nearly out???
Lucky i am due to go to the service dept next monday to get the X5G upgrade on my car........so hopefully they could help me solve the problems too......

    shouldn't be a battery unless it's a dud one

yeah, but the 306 uses infra red, while the 307 uses acoustic so may use more power. Although I'd still think that it's a short life for a battery

give the service manager a call in the morning and stay on the phone till he gives you an answer

it could have been the heat

i leave my windows down in the car about 5-10mm but that might be hard to do where you are

It must be the heat. I got back to my 505 GTI this afternoon and the central locking refused to work. The car wasn't in the sun, but we had 40 + degrees here today and the car was parked nearby to a hot air outlet for a building's air con. Am hoping it will work again when it cools down!!!!

I guess if it works fine when cooler, then it has something to do with the heat.

    Cheers

I will say just the heat. Which may be the heat make ur central locking motor over heat before u actually push ur remote to use it. It happen on my Laner before, when the temperature go over 35C then the central locking will not work. Hope it helps!!

It might also be a problem with the software. My car wouldn't lock once because it though the key was still in the ignition. Whenever i opened the door a chime would come on. It fixed itself after about half an hour.
