    Icon1 407 in Sydney...

The new 407 looks like its a hit already. I saw 3 different ones on the North shore over the weekend. I know Peugeot advertised they had a special offer I think.
It looks pretty nice....Still prefer the 607 though if I had the cash...

yeah there were five at Melrose Peugeot in Canberra, on Friday. Dealer offered me a test drive, but I was reluctant as I probably would have gone to the bank straight after to get the loan!!

Think I'll wait around till a nice coupe comes out for a good price and cruise around in that for a while.

I think the 407 looks much better than the 607. They were parked right next to eachother on friday and the 407 shape is much more refined and much easier on the eyes.

    You'd really prefer a 607 over a 407?

I can't see why you would...

The 407 has had great reviews, something the 607 hasn't really had the luxury of.

As in usual Peugeot fashion, the 40X does most things well whereas the 60X just dosn't quite get it right.

Maybe the layout of the modern Peugeot sedan just dosn't translate well into that size of car.

I think once you move up into that sector you really need a RWD layout or at least some serious power units.

Simply 'upsizing' the FWD 40X sedan dosn't really work.

Not that the 605/607 are bad cars, but the 405/406/407 FWD layout with similar motors just dosn't make the greatest large car.

    O man another 'i saw a 407 thread'

I know we are all excited about it but do we need one person from each state starting a thread about how they saw one??

I mean i can understand people posting various thread about the gti180 but do we really need "OMG i saw 407 in swaziland" thread

I saw the 407 for the first time today in the metal along Cantebury Road in Surrey Hills..... My gosh, I reckon its as ugly as sin!! Front on it looks like an overfed 1999 Chevrolet Camaro. Or the product of an illicit affair between a VX Commodore and Jabba the Hutt....
I'd bee seen a 406 (pre or post facelift) or a 607 over the 407 any day of the week.

I hate what I have seen of that 407 thingy, except yesterday I accidentally saw one from a rear 3/4 view. It looked nice. Prolly cos I couldn't see the front or complete profile of the car in the shadows.

ive seen a few hazy pictures of the 407 coupe - it looks like a 407 estate witha more slanted roof line. That said, it may be a bluff as it was seen being tested.

I went over to Peugeot on Crown with my friend yesterday to see the 407. They had the top of the range model there in black, which we both though were very nice (he's doesn't drive a french car, so he's not bias like some of us).

The darker colour seems to disguise the huge over hang- (the lower spoiler on the car was already broken half way hanging the car )
The interior looks up to other car in its price range such as the subaru or something like a 3 series, but I was a little disappointed to find the a hole where the GPS goes and I don't even think its a option here. I know its expensive bit if you can get it in a Toyota Corolla...
I thought Aus Peugeot is trying to go up market and try to convert those who are looking at Beemers and Mercs. The car certainly looks the part and I could only hope they can succeed with this car like they have with the 206s.

If people can accept a AU ford (or did they ), we should see a lot more 407 on our roads.

I don't see how you could possibly compare it to an AU!?

I haven't seen one in the flesh, but going by the adverts on TV and what I've seen on Peugeot's website I WANT ONE!! Six speed manual with 116kW should be a decent improvement over the base model 406 too. From the specs they all seem to come with 8 airbags and all the other good safety bits standard.

Now if I sell the house and the ST24.....

BTW Peugeot Australia has got downloads for a 407 screensaver and wallpapers.

I didn't mean it in a bad way when I compared the 407 with the Ford AU. I was referring to their unique design (as in being different in a good way and having a character of their own). The UK peugeot website have the new brochures for the 407 and 407SW in pdf.

Just had a close look at the 407 in the MossVale dealer. Very nice if you get away from the codfish face. Remiande me of a cross between the Aston and the Dailmet SP250. ( That should raise some comments.)
Hate to break a headlight though, but in typical Gallic design its something that would grow on you. You could wrap one around me.
Oh well back to the 404.
