    Default Hatch Won't Open

    Vehicle: Peugeot 306 S16

    Problem: Hatch/Boot won't open

Action taken: The car has an immobilser/alarm which opens/closes doors/hatch at the press of the button, upon pressing the button it opens the doors but not the hatch.

I've turned the alarm/immobiliser off and just used the original peugeot key fob infrared remote, it opens/closes the doors but not the hatch.

So I turned back time and went the old fashion way of using the key to directly open the boot but alas the key does not work either, the button on the hatch pushed in but the hatch does not open, the key can turn to the right but still nothing happens.

Questions: Can someone please help me!!!

Have you tried jumping in the back of the car removing the plastic thing which covers the lock. Then try to see if it's jammed at all by something, if so try & remove it or jerk it.

I did this with mine, fixed it too

I've moved this thread to the Peugeot section because you'll get more replies there.

The Technical & Performance section is subtitled "Tuning & modification discussions" - this isn't a tuning or modification topic, it's a brand-specific troubleshooting issue.

    Hope that helps

I think Asanka's got a good point; to me it sounds like a jammed catch rather than a problem with the electrics of it.
Try jacking the car from one back corner and then try releasing and see what happens.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

sounds like a broken clip or release arm. Can happen in S16's. You will need to do as asanka said a pop open from inside the hatch and then repair. Good luck, parts are not expensive though. -Chris

fixed. the central locking was not engaging and somehow that was buggering up the whole lock. 10-15 minutes later of fiddling and she was working again.
