    Default lowering 306 help

    how yall doing?

im the proud owner of a 95 306 XT and i would like to give my car some "edge". I went to a specialized lowering place and got quoted $800, which (corect me if im wrong) just doesnt seem right. Is there anything invloved with lowering these cars that i need to know about before forking out the money, and more importantly is there any way i can lower it for any less than that?
i was also told that lowereing the rear end involves more then just springs....can anybody explain that to me in plain english?

    thanx in advnace guys.

buy the way i love this site, its been a great help

    sounds about right.
need more info, what sort of springs does it include and which place is it?

rears have a torsion bar, couple hours labour invoved to adjust them.

If you're still looking around i'd recommend Trutrack in North Melb.

Unless done right, you will probably spoil the handling of your little pug. The $800 sounds about right for a descent job, just be carefull and think about wether you really want to lower it.... otherwise as Andreas has listed above-Chris

    Thanx for ur answers fellas

    one more thing.....regarding rims

ive seen plenty of pics featuring 306 with 17" wheels but none with 18s..........can this be done (as it is exactly what i have in mind)? if so, whats the verdict? i can emagine it would completly spoil the ride, but i think looks wise would be awsome.

Best handling, has got almost NOTHING to do with the height of the car, true a lower car has a lower center of gravity, but most places lower for "looks" and not handling.
Peugeot got it pretty good from factory, compromising everyday driveability versus outright dynamics.
To get BEST HANDLING would require fully adjustable everything, shocks, springs, joints, bars etc. and then you would need to test and test and re test..... short answer if you like it now leave it, just replace worn or poor parts, if you like it lower then do it, but prepare for somesort of loss.-Chris

ps having said all that i lowered mine by 35mm at the front and 1 notch at the rear bar. properly, had some gains but also losses.

Bobby, ive seen 18's on a 306, so YES it can, but ask your self would i want to? spoil the ride? you bet.. but that's a compromise only you can choose to make, tis your car. In the UK 306's are runnig around with 20's!!! so 18"s puff....-Chris

    thanx chris, much apreciated.

i think ill give it a go....see how it goes....worse case scenario, if i hate the ride that much, ill sell the rims get 17s.
