    Icon5 405 oil gauge

I have a 94 405 with an oil gauge which reads from mini to maxi. I can't tell from the manual or the owners guide whether this is a level or pressure gauge. advice welcomed.

Dial to the bottom left of the dash? The needle should move after the ignition has been switched on but the engine not started - give it a second or two. This gives an indication of the level before the start up. It is only a cursory check - the needle on mine (a 94 405) has registered above the red with no oil on the dipstick... Needle should be against its rest to the left when the engine is running.

Yes, its oil level, but as Pom in a Pug says don't take it as a precise indicator of level. I still check levels with the dipstick every couple of weeks, despite what the gauge says.
It took me several weeks after owning my 405 to realise that the needle is only active when the ignition is switched on but not started.
