    Icon5 306 Clutch Change

Has anyone here replaced a clutch on a 306 themselves? Mine is due pretty soon and I'm tempted to roping my brother into helping me do it ourselves.

Is it a tough job? Any tips or tricks? Any suggestions on non-oem clutch plates I could get my hands on?

How much would this cost to do at the mechanics?

    I've been quoted:
    ~ $1000 for a 5 speed box

    ~ $1200 for a 6 speed box in a GTi6

Why the difference? It's not as easy getting the 6 speed gearbox out - there's about 25 or 30mm not enough space

Thanks for the advice guys. What about options for the replacement clutch? Is their any benefit of looking around for a higher spec one or is the OEM one sufficient (considering plan to have some work done to increasing the performance of the engine)

    Cheers

I think our friend turbo was using a standard clutch in his car so I guess the OEM one is good enough
