Default Bonjour - new member coming through

Just found this site - looks to be just the ticket.

Have bought a 1994 405SRi, and some of the info and problems seem very familiar - thought I'd better join up and find out more.

Have owned, run, rented and had as company cars several Pugs in the past, all in the UK - 106, 205, 309, 306, 405, 406 - no big Pugs though - and reckon they're great cars. Have also run a Citroen ZX diesel for many years. Esp love the ride/handling combo and that, although they feel fragile, they're generally pretty strong cars.

I'll be back to pick some of your thoughts soon.

    Cheers

I take it from that there's a few of us on here. Couldn't think of anything else to buy - Fords and Holdens leave me cold and German cars cost a bomb. At least I buy a Pug with my eyes open.

No matter what it turns out like...

There are - they're all in England! Pugs sell REALLY well over there, along with Cits and Rens. I think it's their best market outside France - might be wrong.

OOPS. Forgot to say, Howdy Pom!

When I lived in England last year, my neighbors had a 106 poverty pack car. It was a '99 model but they had treated it terribly using it to collect firewood with. Probably never washed or vacuumed it either.

Also, I noticed that unlike our P-plate V8 commodore boys, over there they loved their golf/pug gtis as well as their Escort XRS3 (I think). They riced them up big time.

However, the local Peugeot dealer was awful. He was going to charge 200 pounds to service my Volvo! Get lost, went down the road and got it done for 70!

Welcome to civilization Pom in a Pug.
When I was over in Pommyland and in France I didnt see many old Pugs.
Have you noticed that we have a lot more older cars on the road over here

Cheers Decca - yep, lots more older cars here - no salt on the roads stops em rusting. And cars are driven much more gently here too. Stone Free's note of being not looked after is prob about spot on too...

As Stuey said there are loads of Pugs in the UK - not just cos they sell well, but 309's and 405's were built there, in Coventry. Home market.

Ummm, yes, cars are driven more gently here. I don't think there is that need to dart into traffic at high speed here. My Volvo was great off the mark which made it handy entering round-a-bouts (an insidious British disease I think!). Mind you, sitting for an hour not moving on the M25 more than made up for it. However, it didn't have any rust in it at all, not bad for a '91 model, but the annual roadworthy check is what kills alot of cars over there.
