    807

It is believed Peugeot's large people-mover, the 807, is off the immediate agenda for Australia, while Peugeot CEO Frederic Saint-Geours has also confirmed a serious sports car and an SUV are not a priority for development at Peugeot HQ.
Another lost oportunity, shame its not coming out? peugeot_

I doubt Peugeot could be competitive in the MPV market here - pricing was what killed the Espace (there is a just superceded Espace with Pommy plates driving in Melbourne though).

It seems to be that the well off with families choose SUVs, those not so well off choose MPVs. Unfortunately the 807 would fall into neither category here.

as good as pugs are we just don't need another tarago type in this country
to me the people that drive them are nearly as bad as the 4WD drivers
plus you can't see around the things in out normal cars
if you need to seat 5-8 people then buy a pug wagon to carry them in
at least people can see around them and the drivers generally don't have the invincible attitude behind the wheel

Unfortunately, the only option available here is the 406 HDi Wagon manual. No auto option??? Silly at that end of the market.

Given that the choice is so limited and specific, I wonder whether they sell more 607s or 406 7 seaters?

you can get the 406 HDi wagon in both aquto and manual
it's only the SV V6 wagon you can't get in manual yet you can get the SV sedan in both forms

as for the 607 it will be as per normal for peugeot when they try to get into the upper end of the market, the cars will not sell

why would the average punter with $80k to spend on a car buy a pug when you can go BMW, or ROVER or LEXUS ???

Did anyone watch '5th Gear' on the Lifestyle channel two weeks ago? To demonstrate the torque that new VW Tourage (sp?) SUV V10 Diesel has they towed an 807 trying to drive in the opposite direction .

I despise SUV's, even if a Porsche Cayanne or X5 are amazing machines, the fact the majority of people never drive them offroad means they have no purpose on our roads.

That is a good point actually, with 7-seater wagons there really is no need for a Peugeot SUV/MPV in Australasia.

Historically Peugeot stick to the basics, concentrating their resources on developing excellent 'regular' cars that we love. Hatchbacks, sedans (and coupes), wagons. Diverting their resources to more specialised products might reduce the quality of their other cars.

even as we have 3 kids now
    1 x 3 months
    1 x 19 months
    1 x 9.5 years

and we run around in the GTi-6
albeit a little of a squeeze
but even with 3 kids i would never lower myself to drive a tarago type van even if it was a froggy
a sedan would be better room wise
a 403 wagon with little improvements is what i would like but's thats still out there somewhere

Ahh, but look at the context - it was in reference to 7 seaters.

    From Peugeot's own website.
