umm dunno i got sik of the rims and i was pissed off that every stupid twat had those rims on his lancer or magna or other gay cars like that.

I initially changed to the stockies for the track and yeah have kept them on since then.

This is what my car used to look like

And now with the stockies...i dunno i just like that more subtle race look better now days.

I got mine done at where I bought my tyres (beaurepaires, pultney st Adelaide). It wasn’t an ‘on-car’ balancer. They used a normal balancer with an adapter plate to suit the centre-less rims. I’ve heard other people here have had problems with the wheels being balanced that way so I hope it wasn’t a one-off fluke for me!

Macquered, there’s no point in trying to get some people to take their horse blinds off. Remember you’re trying to talk sense to someone who makes generalized sweeping comments that 10K is required to get a typical used 24K gti6 ‘to anywhere near the original spec power’ and handling.
    Take the long way home....

Thats like saying a WRX is reliable. Really.. do some more homework, please. High performance turbo cars in the 'budget' (i call budget sportscars sub $100k) with reliabiltiy just don't exist. Even their manufacturers acknowledge what happens when you start to drive one flat out all day. The oil heaps up A LOT quicker than in a normally aspirated.. then the power drops and so on and so forth.. leading to the extreme of engine seizure. If you wantto drive like grandma.. then yes, your 200sx might never break down. But then, why the hell did you buy a turbo'ed car?
Dude what the Mc Fuuk are u talking about? Its not the 1980s anymore and thus turbo cars dont have the issues they once had.

a WRX or a S15 isnt reliable is it? Dude get a clue when u mod them...boost them and drive it like a ham fisted lebanese then yes reliabily is compromised.

I speak from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE that not all turbo cars are unreaiable. Ive got a 1993 Model Mtsubishi 3000GT Twin Turbo and its got 130,000kms on the clock...i have had no probs whatsoever and i can assure u its been drag raced on the street and strip over 100 times, done a track day at Calder been done many mountain passes and has been driven the way a sports car should be. Nit onething has broken or gone wrong.....so maybe instead of speaking from the knowledge u get from magazines try make judgments from ACTUAL experience.

And as for WRX's i spend alot of time in the modded jap car community...my friend has a 01 WRX with a exhaust he drives the car hard, drag races it alot and has had no major dramas. Same goes for the S15....i dont think u guys realise how strong that SR20DET motor is yet still reliable.

Anyways i think alot of ppl in this thread need to stop making judgements from what theyve read or heard from their friends friend and actually make comments from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE

WRC; those rims look not too shabby at all, I wouldn't be ashamed of them! Look very different black; did you get them done or were they done previously?? YOu've probably explained all this before, so pardon me if you're treading over old ground.

Heck, I've owned a Golf GTI turbo and had no turbo related problems with the thing. Every Saab and half of Volvo's range is turbo'ed, ditto to the same lack of problems (besides them being Swedish, of course!)

The Mk4 Golf GTi (current shape)
It uses the 1.8T 110kw same as in the Audi and Passat and VW Beatle RS.

Audi (A3, A4, A6), Seat (Leon), VW (Golf, Passat, Sharon, Bora, Beetle) all use the same 1.8 turbo motor in various models. There are at least 2 variants as well. One has 150 HP the other has 180? We don't see all of these cars over here.

The hot hatch market is replete with a variety of alternatives in Europe. There is the Seat Leon Cupra R (1.8T 4x4), the Civic Type R (200 HP 6 Speed Manual) etc. It would be interesting to see what this forum would look like if the Seat and the Type R were available in this country. I love my 6 but when I was in England I really liked the looks of the Civic Type R. Never know what there like until you drive one I guess. Might be time to test drive a 180!

Oi - lay off ABBA, IKEA and Volvo!

Actually, there's only one non turbo engine in Volvo's range downunder now - just the 2.4 20V 125kW 5 potter. Most Volvos sold are turbo, 50% of them are turbodiesels in Europe.

SAABs are no longer all turbo worldwide - you can get some boring NA GM engines in the 9-3 in Europe. They're made better with some SAABed ECUs but a 1.8 in a car that size ain't any rocket.

Lightning, you forgot the Pug 106 GTi in that line up :-) Pity we never got it here, more of a successor to the 205 than the 306 has been.

Oh, got my rims balanced today at Bob Jane. NO dramas and the freeway speed of 140kph is smooth as silk

We still get vibration above 120kph or so. It's minor and nowhere near as bad as when I first got it. Just gotta get it in again.

The guys that did mine found that there weren't even any lead weights in the rims!! Little wonder they were completely unbalanced. Bob Jane had like an adaptor thingy they put on the machine, I think like someone mentioned they had at Beaurepairs or something.

i'd hate to say it, but i'd seriously consider a 180, easily over an RCS and a gti6, if ever i was in the market for another car.

agreed...the Gti180 sounds like an awesome lil car and for the low $30K pricetag is very resonably priced and has great performance to match.
