Installation To scared to ASK !!!
Over $1,000.00 for a pissy clarion stacker not even fitted. Some one must be able to help me with a model number of the clarion stacker that will fit in the car!!!!!!!!!

At that price, It would be cheaper to ship one over from the U.K.

Its a easy job to fit too, the hardest part is fitting the lead because you have to remove & then refit the trim neatly.

Love to help you, but if you were in WA I could help you for sure. I have an interest in the Alberts Car Stereo Group here & offer almost no profit rates to Aussiefrogs & A.C.E members as some already know. Clarion is a bloody good brand but Alpine is the one to go for as far as common brands go. I know it sounds like a shameless plug but I will help save a French car owner some bucks whenever I can. Let me know exactly what model you are after & I can tell you what you should pay!

If anyone wants a system for their 205 I have one fitted to the car that is going to be used for motorsport. CD stacker and remote power amp in boot, Sony. Works fine and is loud!
    Make an offer.

That is a friggin joke. How does Peugeot think that they are ever going to sell that as an extra at that price. Tell them to tell their story walking.

I used to have a Alpine HU in one of my old cars. It was a great unit.

Do you know if the following is available in Australia yet?

    iPod Interface

This is understandable, the iPod is basically a firewire hard drive and can be used as such.

Some work places have no A: drive, no CD burners, no email attachments allowed and no active USB or printer ports .. for exactly this reason. (tax office is one such place).

    Default Re: Alpine thingy

    Hi Troy,

I received an email (portions pasted below) from Alpine a few weeks ago , stating that the release would be September, total cost would be around US$300. $100 for the interface adapter and compatible headunits (2004 models only) starting from $200.

    =========

The Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod (model KCA-420i) enables users to experience superior in-vehicle sound quality and advanced control of their iPod music using any of Alpine's 2004 Ai-Net in-dash head units in their own vehicle. The unit will ship at the end of September for a target retail price of $100.*

Alpine's Interface Adapter for iPod enables people to use the in-dash receiver's exclusive Bass Engine® technologies to tune their system to get the best sound quality in their own vehicle. The solution allows users to control iPod playback using the head unit's front panel buttons or remote; view song information (artist, album and/or song name) on the display; and easily find tracks through the receiver's Quick Search interface with the rotary knob. Alpine’s exclusive MediaXpander™ technology restores lost detail to compressed digital media, bringing the original impact and life back to the music...

    ...blah blah blah...

... A single cable connects the adapter to the Alpine head unit, while a second cable connects the adapter to the iPod through the iPod dock connector. The iPod then acts like a plug and play hard drive controlled by Alpine’s easy-to-use rotary knob control. When the vehicle is on, the Interface Adapter also charges the iPod's internal battery.

    Pricing and Availability
The Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod will be available through Alpine Authorized Dealers at the end of September for $100. It is compatible with any iPod mini with the dock connector and iPod update 2004-04-28. Go to the iTunes site to download the latest iPod software. Alpine offers 11 2004 Ai-Net head units through authorized dealers at target retail prices starting at $200.

I remember an article about how someone walked into a Mac store, plugged in their iPod, copied Microsoft Office, and then moseyed on out of the store. This was a few years ago with the original iPods.\

Spoke to the State supplier this morning & he says they should be here in September, I may be able to get some as early as late August however. He mentioned a price all up of around $299 but that isnt confirmed yet. Whatever the price is I will do my best to reduce it substantially.

    Hi zykra,

Was the guesstimate of $299 in Aus dollars or the US stuff?

I'm interested, especially if you can get it sooner than September. I will get in touch with you around the mid/end August.

Thanks for the info, about the Aus release date and pricing.

Thanks for the info Justin. Is that $299 for the Interface only or including a headunit?

    Either way I am interested.
