Default What's that noise in the 504?

Have encountered a strange noise emanating from inside the dashboard of my 504.
Happens as the accelerator is applied and sounds like paper being crumpled.
Sound stops when off the accelerator.
Pretty certain it's not coming from under the bonnet?

Discovered that the heater no longer works and not sure whether or not it may be related to the noise?
Noise continues regardless whether the heater is on or off.

    Any ideas on this one?

could be air in the cooling system

check by taking the cap off and running the engine to see if you have any air bubbles running around in the radiator

water moves faster with engine speed so when you take your foot off the water flow slows down but to me it sounds like air

I had a leaf in an airvent that made a similar noise

My fan when cold also makes a few odd noises.

My current 504 driver has a similar sound.
Amazing what finds its way through the air outlet down into the heater.
One car I stripped yielded about $6-00 worth of coins in the heater.

    Peter.
A buddy of mine had the same noise emanating from higher up in the dash of his 504 Familiale, just under the windscreen. When I quizzed him about it he said it was heater related. His heater still worked though. Perhaps yours is full of air.
Sorry I have no answers for you, but it is obviously a common problem.
