Wanting to get a 205 GTI or T16

Already posted about t16 but have no replies as yet, been about 15 minutes. Am in Brisbane and looking to offload my Charade and get one of the above mentioned cars (the GTI is the go currently, the t16 when I am rich and stuff). Any advice for a sill 22 year old who is sick of driving his girly charade?

By the way, also looking for some peugeot 205 GTI badges for a joke at work.

    Advice tip 1 ... save bl00dy hard ... 205T16 is usually over $100,000AUD .. see <a href="http://www.carclassic.com/html/DD63.htm" target="_blank">http://www.carclassic.com/html/DD63.htm</a> for an example for sale.

Advice tip 2 ... if you are going to stick 205 GTI badges on your Charade please A) take a photo of it and B) take them off again, it's an insult to the 205.

    not all charades are bad..

    <img src="http://www.pete.eu.org/daihatsu/blair-nz.jpg" alt=" - " />

sadly under all that rice is a 3cyl DOHC 12V injected Intercooled Turbo.. with 130hp making the front wheels.. 180-200hp from this engine is not unheard of.. $$$ but not as much as one may think..

weighing in at 700od kg.. a suprising performer..

NO match for a T16.. but if budget be a condieration.. the charaded is interestigly enough a rather unigue performance allternitive..

Oh comon, we have acharade owner here who is looking for alternatives. No point alientating him with FastFours like comments about anything that is turbo'd.

If charade had a Pug symbol we all would be drooling over it as a pocket rocket.

    ITOSU,
205GTi has a room for improvement as far as the BHP is concerned but before you dismiss it as a slow car ask one of the Brisbane froggers to take you for a spin in it. Maybe even in a 306 S16 (Brad I think you need to instill a sense of Holy-crap-this-pug-sticks-to-a-road-like-a...).
All pugs are known for their agility. And like a lot of people once you drive one.. I mean REALLY DRIVE one you won't go back quickly.

Comon you Brisbane froggers give the guy a fright of his life in a PUG.

Thanks all for the support in making my Charade a hot, fast 4. I was aware of the perfromance that one can get out of these things, infact I have seen one in the UK (the charade GTtI) which is a turbo-chaged 3 cylinder 1 liter engine, and it hammers along provided there is only the driver inside. With other passengers it gets a little sluggish. I want to get rid of it. In its present form it is not real impressive. I have had a 1975 toyota corona and now a diahatsu charade. Is it a crime to want something with a little more grunt. I am sure that a 205 GTI would have more grunt than my 1.3 L fuel-injected charade.

If there is one thing Charades love, it's oil. My girlfriends (1985 1ltr 3 cyl) was rather sluggish, so I checked the oil...nothing onnthe dip stick. So I bought some oil, dropping in a litre....still no oil on the stick, 2l, nothing, 2.5l...ahh, here we go, another 1/2 litre and she was spot on full. Thats 3l of oil for those who are counting, and thats into a car while probably only takes less than 4 whistle

Holy crap I thought, how did this thing not die I don't know. Needless to say, she pured all the way past 4,000 and had heaps more go.

But anyways, back to the topic. Be different, go a Pug. A 205 is an immensly enjoyable car and although not blistering off the line (which un-modded French car is though), I guarantee you it will keep up with just about any other car in the twisty roads like Mt Glorious. If anyone laughs at you because you bought it, tell them you will meet them up the top.

Don't hesitate about buying a 205 and slowly working on it. If you like tinkering under the hood then the 205 is the way 2 go basically b/c it's got heaps of potential.

Everyone will tell you about body kits and other crap 2 make it look fast but make it GO and STOP before u spend the money on making it look fast.

The best thing about having a 205 is after you've had it for a few years and is "slightly hot". Guys pull up next 2 u in their brand new Honda and you'll do their doors in a 10 y.o. car.

    YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

    P.S. Sell the Charade!!!

hihihi dont get me wrong guys..

the Pug is a far far supier car then the charde will ever dream or hope of being..

but for a mass-produced shopping trolly.. one can have a lot fun within wink

the 1.6L engine out of appluases rockys and the Detom charade will bolt in to your 1.3 powered puss box.. with a mild cam.. extractors.. using stock g/box.. and the stock loom .. will see you with similar performance times in staight line as a 205... and all for about $900 and a saturday arvo of labour...

when i meant bolt in.. i mean bolt in.. the blocks are identical ... dance

come to corners howeverer... you will need to pump some more $$$$ in to making the charade predicatable as far as in pug sence in concered..

but for a cheap groccery basket.. they will suprise you..

...and of course it's dreadfully easy (and cheap) to make an early 205GTi go very quick. Read my post:

    HI all,

Thanks for all the advice. I am set on getting one of these little beasties (prolly one that is a little beat down and working it up. I don;t mind putting in the hard yards) hpowever not right now. Have just hit a financial crisis. Dog got parvo and cost me a packet, and then died. The Pug will have to wait. However I will be hanging around so you can talk to me still. frown

It's French origin .. but with the French colonising many many parts of the world over the last 200 years it could be from anywhere ... and right now it's from Downunder !
