Default Tailgate struts for 308 wagon aftermarket parts looking for advice

Hi I'm new to the forum . We've just bought a 2010 308 wagon and I need to replace the tailgate struts . Can anyone recommend an aftermarket supplier of reasonable quality? I found these guys on ebay in the UK

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FOR-PEUG...53.m1438.l2649

Is there anyone in Aus that anyone has bought from and found to be good ?

the build year of the car is 2010
    the VIN is VF34HRHRJAS140261

the OEM part no. is 9683421980

Are there any other models that use the same part ?

    Thanks ,

    Alasdair

    G'day,

I got standard over the counter clones from Bursons to replace the pair on an old Celicia long ago. They proved to be OK and reasonably priced.

Only hard part was the physical job. The originals did not have any quick release on them and the mountings were locktite'd. I attacked the ball socket with the Dremel until it got weak enough to be split - at the open end I think, there is a wire circlip in there, if you can force that out it all falls to bits.

I installed the new struts reusing the old mounts.

    cheers,

Thanks Bob I contacted Burson's today and unfortunately they don't have a listing for the car.

Thanks Bob for all your research . I ended up ordering from a mob in the UK before I saw your second message. They match using the OEM part no. printed on the original strut . Hopefully a guarantee that it will fit properly ! The price is approximately the same as Struts Australia including postage. They take the VAT (GST) off to which some spares companies in the UK don't or won't do My ebay link was a dud after sending the VIN a "Sorry no product for your vehicle" came back.

I'll report back on quality and fit once they arrive.
Monroe didn't seem to have any tailgate struts for Peugot except if you were to measure it and find a close replacement , then there's the problem of getting the right fitting at either end.

One further bit of info for anyone reading this in the future with the same problem . When I searched on the SGS Engineering site (link above) by the OEM part no. printed on the strut it came up as belonging to a 308 hatchback . So if anybody has access to a wrecked 308 hatchback with OEM no. 9683421980 on the tailgate struts you might be able to match it to your 308 wagon .

    Cheers,
    Alasdair

Thanks for the advice, there is a re-gas person in Coffs Harbour , our nearest big town but the strut is bent . Maybe they could straighten it but I have the struts on the way from the UK now .

I also got struts from the UK - for a 20 year old Citroen Xantia wagon. They were a sensible price ($38.44 inc. postage), arrived pretty quickly, and were easy to fit - same locking mechanism as the ones I took off. Makes it hard to shop locally.

Supplier was Euro Parts Dealer Ltd on eBay.

    Cheers

    Alec
