    Default Minor water leak solution?

Coolant low and noticed water dripping from bottom of car. Took to mech and he said the water pump had been leaking but wasn't now. $600 to replace so drive it and see. Every three days I have to add about 200ml to the system. What do we think of BARS LEAKS RADIATOR STOP LEAK? Does it harm the car or the radiator to add this to try and seal the leak? ( Pug 2008 )

I believe there are more modern stop leak products now that may have fewer negatives, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw them discussed!

The potential trouble with Bars Leaks is that it works reasonably well on static leaks but (only using logic, not experience) it may not on pump seals because of movement. It relies on the solids in the solution entering the leak gap and solidifying with exposure to air, I understand. Hopefully someone can pipe up that's tried it (I have for my 405's heater and it worked).

Bars leaks won't work on Water Pump.
Bush Mechanic Raw Egg works just as well as Bars Leaks
Small leak will turn into a gusher and will cook the engine from loss of coolant
    As they say

I should have added, I wouldn't use Bars or similar products on a car I cared about normally but when I did, there was no chance of me doing a heater matrix job on the 405 for personal reasons. I answered on that basis - that there's a good reason (such as lack of cash!). But anyway, I think the concensus is no.
