    Default 205 Si fueling issue

    Afternoon all

Ive just purchased another 205. 91 Si.

Fresh battery fitted this morning, turns over no catch. Test fuel pump, turns out to be dead. Swap in a known working one. Turn the ign, hear it prime and still no go. Pour some fuel down the throttle body and she fires to life and then dies again.

Car has been off the road for 3 years. Seems like a possible blockage? Blocked filter?

There looks to be fuel getting to the throttle body as the lines are cooler and theres mild weeping from dried up rubber right where they enter the throttle body.

Any ideas what could be causing it to not inject fuel? Ive no idea about how the Si system works. I found the fuel relay near the ecu and it clicks on when the ign is turned and clicks again when turning off.

    Thanks in advance.

There isn't much to go wrong, if pump primes then there is the fuel line, filter, regulator then fuel rail and injectors. Cannot bee too hard?

Si doesn't have a fuel rail or multiple injectors. It is monopoint injection. Last si I had with similar problem fixed itself after I replaced the fuel filter and kept pouring petrol down its throat

Attacking it tomorrow with fresh fuel and filters.

Whats the best way to drain a tank? Its almost half full of 3-4 yr old fuel.

Well done for taking it off my hands
I had 500 on it, but I could only justify it for parts. Much better that itís staying together as a whole

Yes, Cam stole it. I think it has a blocked injector.

Not really, unless you have an ultrasonic cleaner? Maybe soak it in some shellite? But even then there's little chance of clearing all the junk.

Thanks for the help guys. All sorted.

Problem? Si and Gti fuel pumps although almost the same have opposite supply and return in and outlets on the pump. Derrr! You can imagine the look on my face once I worked it out. Swapped the hoses at the pump and she fired into life immediately. Its in time warp condition, everything works including ice cold air conditioning. Off for a blue slip tomorrow, fingers crossed it will pass. It even has the original Michelin XM1 tyres on it... amazing. A definite keeper.

Some basic pics after a hose off and wash. Its clearly been garaged all its life, the interior is like new as is the paint. Barely has a swirl in the paint its that good.

Oh! It also has had parking sensors fitted. Very professional job back in 2007. Can turn them on and off with a switch. Although they spoil the bunnlers if you look closely they are professionally fitted with a discrete gauge on the dash.

It was a risk as it was in the ‘damaged’ section and no background information. The lady I spoke to told me it came in from a garage and the proceeds were going to a charity. So it was possibly a deceased estate etc.

Its way better than imagined, I was happy to bid upto $1500 on it. Probably one of the last remaining like it so the risk paid off.
