Icon8 Replacement clutch cable VERY difficult to get on | 306 GTI-6

    Hi, first post etc.
Very distraught this afternoon as I've been unable to stretch the cable far enough to get it connected on both ends, it seems like it's barely 2cm short. I can either have it connected at the pedal or at the gearbox.

Has anybody dealt with something similar? I can't find any information online about this situation.

OK....perhaps you have been given a wrong part ? Can you double-check, if you still have the part number on the box / bag it came in ? ?

Wrong parts have been the bane of my life at times....

    Welcome 'dubbz.

Is this the same setup as the Mi16, with that terrible plastic clip thing at the pedal end? If so, do you have that part? I'm just making sure (if it's the same) that you aren't trying to fit it without the part which would make it a bit short. Sorry if it sounds dumb, but if I don't ask....

The part is correct and the pieces are all there, I ended up having to do unspeakable things to the bushings on the cable in order for it to fit. Foreseeing another cable changr in the near future.

I had to adapt a cable[ by lengthening] on an early mi 16 by fitting , a long threaded nut similar to what you would use to join booker rod ,in 10 mm from the nut and bolt shop .locked with two nuts, one either end and extended with some thread from a bolt with the head cut off ,to my knowledge its still going ,pugs

In the dim recesses of my memory I seem to remember there were two different clutch arms on the box, so I wonder if this is the reason.
