Icon1 The best place to get your car serviced in Melbourne (cost wise)

    Hi guys,

Where should I service my Peugeot 306 XT in Melbourne? I used to take it to Regen Motor in Balwyn and then City Peugeot for the last 2 years, and I have to say they are awfully awfully expensive, even with a discount.

I have heard good things about AutoParis near Box Hill, but I guess they can get expensive too. They gave me a quote on lowering and it's going to cost $500+. Any other places you guys can recommend that give you a decent service job but without the pricetag?

    Thank you all in advance.

    Hi There,

Auto Paris may sound expensive but they are possibly the cheapest labour rate going. On top, the guys are great, and do some good work. (they know what they're looking for). So cost wise, I'd go Auto Paris, parts aren't going to differ in price much, but labout can.

BTW put some series 1Mi mags on your 306, I sold mine yesterday and I have to say they look unbelievable on the white 306 5dr I sold them to

    cheers

    Depends where you are?
Auto Paris in Box Hill are great, and reasonably priced, labour-wise.
I've heard good things about Bob Watson in Mont Albert, but haven't used him myself so can't comment.
Elliot of Elliot Tune Mobile knows his French cars. He is French, and did his apprenticeship at Citroen in France. He comes to you, but also has a workshop in Moorabbin.
In the west, Airport West as a matter of fact, French Connection is highly regarded. As is Alpine Affaire in Ringwood. David Cavanagh (French Connection) and Colin Stark (Alpine Affaire) are pioneers amongst French car enthusiasts.

I guess I will stick with AutoParis then. I talked to Paul and Stewart the other day and they are sure really nice people indeed.

Just curious, my next service is at 70,000km, approx how much is that going to cost? I just like to compare the cost around.

The 90,000km service (the same work as the 70) I had done at Auto Paris and it was ~$175, including a synthetic oil change. (They use ELF something-or-other, Synthese I think it is, maybe that's the old name for it? You do get a nice ELF service sticker in the corner of your windscreen though )

For comparison's sake, my 70,000 service was done at Regan's, this was basically the same work as above and cost ~$250.

Hey. i get my Mi16 serviced at Europarts in Cheltenham. The guy there, Ted, has been working on Peugeots since he was a young tacker (16 yo or so...) Its a specialist Peugeot workshop... He really knows his stuff but he charges $60ph for labour. Its a tad expensive but then he knows what he is doing and might save money for you over other mechanics who dont know the cars so well.

Anyways his number is 9583 3766
His address is 313A Reseerve Rd Cheltenham

Ted's father co-owned a Peugeot dealership in Hampton, so he grew up on them. I used to take my Renault 12s to him when he worked from his backyard, and he always did a good job at a reasonable price. I bought my two Pugs from him, as have friends of mine. Everybody still takes their cars back to him to look after. Apart from being a nice guy, he's authorised by Peugeot to service and sell parts if warranty is an issue for anyone...zac

I could be wrong about Ted being able to do warranty work. I'll check next time I'm speaking to him.

In response to the subject of this thread though, I still recommend Ted.

But never fear depeche mode, it looks as though you guys will get the job.

the only reason i say it, is that my mechanic and i are both ex factory techs and still have good connection in pug head office and we are not allowed to do warranty work...
i was not slaging any body just stating that...
    regards paul.

Paul (depeche mode) are you the Paul I used to work with for a short while at City Pug? If I remember rightly you had an 'avant garde' hairstyle and a 15 or 17 Gordini or something. Is that you?
    Apologies If I am wrong.

Hmm. I don't know if that's important that you remember me.
I have poncy blonde hair and was in sales for a while until I left around the time when Alfa and Peugeot came together.
