    Default 307 AL4 gearbox issues

Greetings Puggers....when taking our 2003 307 2.0 ltr to Launceston last week
to have central locking issues fixed...the car decided to throw a curved ball!
80klm from home it started dropping down to 3rd for no apparent reason
and would do it between 90-110kph.
This happened several times accompanied by a bleep which I assume it
    has thrown a code.
This gearbox has 187,000klm on it and has been trouble free up to know.
Back when it was still under warranty and had about 70,000K's on it, the
two main pressure control solenoids were replaced....the Main Pressure Modulation valve and the Converter Pressure modulation valve and after that no problems.
As far as i know, it's still running it's original oil.
Would the Brains Trust be able to tell me the likely cause of this problem?

Change oil, this is the most important thing to do in that box, solenoids etc will also play up, do oil first completely not just a top up. Might pay to get a transmission shop to pump it out / through (not a dealer). Then decide where to from there.

Logic says that if those two parts played up at 70K km then at 180 would they need to be replaced again? Oil at every 50K km. for safety / peace of mind

scan the codes in engine and gearbox before doing anything.

I am waiting on results from dealer tomorrow or Tues...before any action is taken.
I had planned on doing the oil....a complete change will take about five empty/re-fills
to get it all and propose to use Castrol Transmax-Z which has the full ZF 71124 spec.
I have used this same oil in my 1998 Jaguar XJ8 4.0 ltr which is fitted with the ZF 5HP24 trans.

    Delete this,
Its a good fluid are you sure its for the gearbox however?

It is a good auto box fluid, wonders never cease, I am a complete auto box newby just got a 407 6 speed with much the same sort of issues if you do not look after it.

Its in my power steering box (land cruiser) and soon 205. Castrol VMX80 is my manual 80 series oil.

Mathew....I believe that like all things with moden automatics, they only have a certain shelf life
and I will be changing them if it's deemed necessary.

Transmax-Z most certainly is....look up their web site....I prefer it to Penrite....even though I use Penrite oils
    for everything else.
