Default 505 TD with 3 speed auto - fuel consumption

    Hi Guys,

Would anyone have, or know where I can get, the real life fuel consumption figures for the '83 Turbodiesel 505 with 3 speed automatic, please?

I am looking at options for a commuting car (Central Coast to Newcastle daily) without going to a huge expense.

    Much appreciated!

Well according to this Wheels article, somewhere between 24mpg and 32mpg.

I was getting around 28mpg or 10l/100 out of mine 82 SRDT. Converted it to 5 spd. It was a much nicer car to drive actually had some acceleration. If you want something much more economical get a 405 srdt in 6l/100 every day driving, trips down in the 5s no effort or attempts at economical driving.
learn to make biodiesel and you drive for 30 cpl

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking the time to reply - the answers I've received from you and others has helped us decide against buying that auto 505 - we would prefer to get a 505 TD manual or 405 SRDT.

    Many thanks!

    Hi Cruiserman,

thanks for your reply - as a result of the information from you and Nick and others elsewhere, we have decided against the 505 auto and would rather aim for the 505 TD with 5 speed - or a 405 SRDT. Will have to keep our eyes open!

    Many thanks!
