Default 505 side mirror rubber boots

    Hi all,

The rubber dust boots of my side mirrors (1992 GTI wagon) are falling apart:505 side mirror rubber boots-img_20180414_104847-rubber-boot-sml.jpg

Is there a way to find a replacement rubber boot?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hugo

If nobody here can tell you where to get a genuine replacement, you could take it to a Repco store and show it to some older guy who is very experienced. There will be something somewhere that is very close to it....perhaps in a completely different application.

It's the same mirror used in the 405.
But I would doubt that it's a part sold separately.

The best bet is probably to just buy a complete second hand mirror, someone like Ian Robbo who is on tis site could probably help.

Thanks for the tips everyone. And thanks for the offer Ian, I'll bear it in mind.

I hate the thought of the waste of throwing out a side mirror where only the dust boot is worn out.

I'll see if some creative solution is possible and let you all know how it goes.
