Default Wanted: 1964-1967 Peugeot 404 Sedan

    Hello Everyone!
I am a 26 year-old Peugeot 404 enthusiast from the United States, I currently reside in the Los Angeles, California region.
I am looking for an excellent or restored 1964-1967 Peugeot 404 sedan to import and use as my daily driver.
I've looked at 404s for sale in Europe, however, pristine cars are priced above my budget and affordable ones are severely corroded. Very few reside in the USA.
So I am looking to Australia and South Africa for a RHD 404, as they tend to be solid and a RHD car would be a neat sight at local car shows (I owned a RHD Austin 1300 GT from New Zealand once, it was a blast driving from the right seat!).
So, are there any good 404's for sale in Australia in the $3,000 to $6,000 USD price range?
Thank you all for your support!
    Cheers,
    Cody Crowley

    Hi Cody,

Good luck with that one mate! We tend to hang onto our treasures out here.

Try the South Africans........they let the English pinch their whole country once so anything 's possible!

The cars might be a touch battered though.......their road kill is larger!

This wagon has popped up in our for sale area.
No photos, no price. As it came from Malaysia maybe there is a box of mangosteens in the back?

    No harm in finding out...
Peugeot 404 L Familiale for sale.

The Familiale is listed here on Gumtree - with photos. Price is steep though! There is another there on Gumtree too - which might be a better proposition for you Cody.

Cody. I live near where that Malaysian 404 wagon is located. The wagon 404s are the absolute pick for ticking every box, comfort, load space, practicality, beautiful steering, handling, glass house visibility, load capacity and room, and last but not least towing and 4x4 cross country ability, fuel economy and engine/drive-line balance..truly magnificent vehicles:

I'm not sure the seller is in anyway associated with us here on Aussiefrogs.

I have three Pug 404s, two wagons and a utility. These are my favourite cars and just to be sure, my stable includes three G class w460 Mercedes-Benz 4x4, a U1700L Unimog Benz and one w202 Benz wagon, and one w202 sedan with the fabled OM605 five cylinder turbo diesel. My absolute preference is for the 404 wagon.

Best car ever made bar none.

I can check this listing out or you as it looks like a gem and that is a pleasure in its on right. My better half would scream blue murder if she thought I was going to get 'another one' of course, so I have so far desisted the urge to look.

PM if you want to have it looked at. The seller may well be very negotiable. He won't sell at anywhere near that price in my opinion.

    Cheers steu
