    Default 205gti fan operation question

    Hi, basic question:
In what order are these pair of engine fans supposed to operate?

    A) Both together at low speed then both together at high speed?
    B) Sequentially, one on with the other off, then both on?
    C) some other way?

Mine have been messed about with an override switch, and the thermal cut in has very recently stopped working. The override switch only seems to work on the passenger side fan which seems odd. Iím going to test the drivers side fan to see if itís completely failed, but I would first like to know in what order theyíre supposed to operate. Cheers, James.

Answer: A by way of some relays and the switches, used a lot in the Peugeot models. Can be fixed, Flock and I are both Elec Eng so should be no issue.

Fairly easy really. They connect in series for low speed and parallel for high speed, via three relays. It's a great system, usually ruined by muppets who don't understand. Attached is a diagram for Mi16 and Motronic 205's.

Thanks all. Looks like a trip to visit Flock & Matthew is a good idea! Cheers, James.

While Iím waiting for my new thermo fan switch to arrive, can someone tell me where the positive feed (red wire) to the thermo switch physically comes from? Does it come from the fuse box/ cabin area like mine appears to have done, or does it take a shorter route direct from the battery like it apparently does on Euro models?
    Cheers

Only needs to come from battery via inline fuse, or better fuse in the relay box? That is how I wired my driving lights, I suspect yours are this way too.
