    Default Qld SIV rego question

So, my Aug 1987 ( on the build plate) S1 is now 30 years old. happy birthday, Pepe!
However, on the rego papers it's down as a 1988 model
To be eligible for the SIV scheme, a car has to be 30.
So, will they go on build date or first regod date?
    Anybody know for sure?

"A registration concession has been provided to veteran and vintage vehicle owners since the 1950s. The concession was extended in the 1970s to also accommodate "classic historic" vehicles, that is, those built at least 30 years ago."

I would take a look at the compliance plate, on mine this says: 'This vehicle was manufactured by JRA Limited'. This compliance plate says 12/87 but the 'Built Date' on the Peugeot build plate is June 1987. I'm guessing I'll have to wait until the 12/87 compliance plate anniversary, as I think this is what the authorities will regard as the 'Australian build date'. I could be wrong so let us know if you get it through in between the build and compliance plate dates.
The system is pretty restrictive in QLD though, much better in NSW from what I've read...
    cheers, James.

Okay went to Roads today and was told that it's from the build, not the first registered, date. I then asked if Sept 87 would make it 30 years old at the start or end of Sept 2017 and the lady said "I would say the start of the month as the car doesn't have a birthday, does it?"
I agreed before calling to cancel the bouncy castle and cake...
As always, you feel you come away with 90% of the answer you're looking for so the proof will be after I get a RWC at the start of next month and then go in to get it (hopefully) regod.
James - While the SIV scheme isn't as good as NSW, this will be the second car on it for me. It's about $220 as opposed to full-fat rego at $715 (the other car is 6-cyl Datto and it saves nearly $800 pa).

What's that about $10 a week? That's not a lot extra to enjoy fully unrestricted. We're talking two cafe lattes.

It all adds up, and for a car that you are not using all that often it is quite a saving. I have my R12 here on SI rego which is half price in Tas and I never run out of days in which to drive it. We are allowed 52 days a year here and do not need to be a member of a car club.
